Perhaps if you backed off with the flaming and actually offered some educational information you might find others actually respect you. But I know your type, you go out to customers, claim you are the BEST there is and blah blah blah and bash ALL of your competitors. Hahaha. Sad. I'm so glad I didn't get conditioned to think that way. It's very ignorant.

I deal primarily with up scale cliental and let me tell you, I'd get kicked out of every home if I went in there with your mentality.

I posted on this site because I thought I was dealing with professionals but it's apparent I was sadly mistaken.

Carpetologist, that is very good advice. I recently did a job for a friend and wound up spending 3 FREAKING HOURS on a $60 ticket because they didn't want to buy any of the extras that were required to clean the carpets. So I had to choose between leaving all of the red stains and pet stains or working my ass off for free. Never again will I do a friends house.

I hate to say it my friend but it may be too late. I would try Mildocide first but it sounds like carpet sour. You need to get a moisture meter and check the moisture in the carpet and pad. If it's down in the pad, forget it. The pad has to come out and be replaced, the carpet has to be disinfected front and back and that is still no guarantee that the smell will come out. If it comes down to this make sure you replace the tact strip too because that moisture gets into the wood and causes it to rot.

You have 72 hours before the carpet is, well, f**kED. Once that moisture sits for 72 hours, then the IICRC standards call for disposing of the carpet. I've salvaged carpets after 72 hours of moisture but it's rare.

If the carpets don't dry (and if you have the equipment) you need to get a couple of blowers and a DH and make a vaccum for the moisure. In other words set up your blowers at one and of the room and the DH on the other end of the room and have your blowers blowing the moisture into the DH.

Alternatively you can open a window and direct the blowers to blow the moisture out the window but this is not recommended at all, especially on a really humid day. Someone once told me the A/C acts as a dehumidifier but I'm kind of skeptical about that theory. I mean in theory it may work but I've never tried it myself.


Above all you need to have your machine checked and if everything checks out you need to rethink your technique. If you are not IICRC certified, the classes make a HUGE difference in your knowledge and ability.

I AM JUST STARTING OUT AND DID A FRIENDS HOUSE TO GET EXPERIENCE. HE CALLED ME TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE CARPET WAS STILL WET A DAY LATER AND IS STARTING TO BECOME MUSTY. IT IS LEVEL LOOP CARPET AND HE WAS IN A HURRY SO I WAS UNABLE TO STAY WITH MY FAN TO LET IT DRY.   
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CORRECT THIS?
