Please be kind...

I am considering getting in to this biz and would like some feedback before doing so. Once again please go easy on me.

I have worked with a few carpet cleaning companies in my youth, believe it or not I may have enjoyed the work, and now many years later i am considering getting back in the business on my own. I once again got back into this by accident, Cleaned a few local bars / shops / Biz's for some extra cash and now see it's potential. However, money and investing is the issues and the bigger companies around here try to rule the roost but by luck and word of mouth i think i might be able to make out if i can purchase an inexpensive portable and other needs.

I am seriously looking in to the Rotovac system and have an aquaintance a few states over that gave me some pro's and cons (but had a little more money to invest) and has said very little about the rotovac system and not offered much advice. so this leads me here and i am hoping i can get some advice from some of you pro's.

As mentioned i have a small amount of money to invest (less than $4,000) and a whole lot of burdens to bare. My youngest has a health condition we are dealing with so i have to becareful what i get myself into. A relitive is considering giving me a small enclosed trailer to use (& Keep) that i can put my machine and other needs in. From a nother business venture I will make my own signs, fliers, business cards, and apparel if needed. I already have an accounting system, will have calls forwarded to my cell phone, will handle my own bookings and have a long list of local and web suppliers to buy from. The next step is now buying my own Portable equipment and building from there. I really like the looks of the rotovac but not sure how it would work. The other thing is that some potential accounts have tiles or hard surface flooring that needs cleaning so I am also considering investing in this. The rotovac seems to offer a good start up is there any other companies that offer this? I am also looking at cleanpro but they do not make mention how much it cost to get started.

Any help, advice, and ideas any of you can help supply is appreciated!

peace,
TK

I bought the Rotovac start up package for $4,000 that I didnt have I got a loan from rotovac.  I was rocking a portable I was 5'7 212 pounds. 7 months later I now have a Truckmount steady work and a great contract with a water damage company. 5'7 195 pounds. Buy the rotovack package and then just rock out with your *ock out!

THANKS FOR THE POSTS!

SO THE ROTOVAC IS A GOOD SYSTEM TO START OUT WITH?
WHAT SHOULD OR SHOULDN'T I ADD IN MY PACKAGE WITH THEM?
I AM CONSIDERING GOING WITH THE START UP PACKAGE ADDING A HEATER TO IT (IF NECESSARY) AND A HARD SURFACE TILE & GROUT CLEANER PACKAGE, WHAT DO YA THINK? THERE IS A LOCAL GUY I KNOW WANTING TO GET RID OF SOME TANKS FOR CHEAP (FRESH / WASTE), I THINK THEY ARE 30-40 GALLON TANKS AND HE IS ASKING $200.00 OR SO FOR THEM-IS IT WORTH IT (WAS THINKING I COULD THROW THEM IN MY TRAILER).

JUST SO I COULD GET BACK UP TO SPEED ON THINGS I WAS CONSIDERING TAKING IICRC course CERTIFICATION FOR CMT & CCT.
DO ANY OF YOU OR HAVE ANY OF YOU DONE THIS OR SUGGEST DOING THIS?

PEACE,

Hey T-Nap,
I had the same question, but not much information here from any of the members. Seems many folks here have already ventured our into truckmount territory, with a wand.  Conseqently, they do not use "starter" tools anymore like the rotovac. Hence, not much action on the thread. I could be wrong, so please no flames. Just trying to reach out to a fella.

I too am looking at the Rotovac package deal.  Which Rotovac and portable are you planning to go with?  I myself am going with the 360, and Mytee 1003HV. I looked at other combinations including more expensive portables with auto-pump out, and auto-dump, but was discouraged by others who have had experience with them in the past, but do not use them anymore, due to a number of reasons; 1, being clutter. When cleaning say a hallway which is limited on space as it is all those cords 5 to be exact will make it difficult to maneuver. 2. being reliability.  Because the machine is so packed with motors, vacuums, etc the realibility of unit with many of these features tend to be less than those machine with simpler designs.  Just my observation and talking with other users.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Nextlevel,

nice talking with another possible rotovac startup...

Still deciding on which route to go. I have been fortunate to come across some other deals thru some online searches, newspaper adds and other word of mouth sources. Money is tight so it is going to be what I can afford to buy as opposed to what i wish I could buy.

you have an email address so maybe we could chat in peace?

regards,

T-Nap
