Does anyone know of a way to import chemicals from the USA into Canada? I was told by an US producer that there are restrictions that they cannot overcome, is that true and if not what shall I do?

Thanks to anybody with a solution (that will not put me into a cell  )!

Chris;

As a manufacturer ourselves here in the USA, I have never heard of these restrictions. We ship to many parts of the world and have never incurred any problems other than alot of paper work from here.

If the  American chemicals contain hazardous ingredients (which most do) then the chemicals have to have a WHMIS label (which many don't) which makes it illegal to use these chems in the workplace anyways.

The companies who are ready to sell in Canada usually have their chems WHMIS labelled, if they don't tell them to get with it.

Chris - your question is a good one. here is what I can tell you from a legal standpoint.

1. It is up to the importer (you) to see if any of the ingredients are on the DESIGNATED SUBSTANCE LIST. if they are not, you must make an application to have them reviewed and added.

2. This problem is compounded by the fact that the manufacturers MSDS probably does not meet canadian standards or laws.

3. This makes Number 1 difficult for you to do.

4. All Canadian made products must meet Canadian laws and wherever you are located, i would assume or hope that there is some supplier who has a product that meets your standards of performance

5. If we can help just let us know
