I had a couple friends working for Chem-Dry, which I had never heard of at the time. I was a college student, and I was tired of working at Macy's. I would have started sooner, but my friend stalled on getting me the job because he couldn't picture it--I was always very neat, well-dressed . . . not the kind of guy he could imagine doing physical work. As it turned out, I didn't mind physical work, and a neat overall appearance and attitude goes over well with customers. Back then, everyone working for the company was at least a part-time student (best crew that place had in ten years--one might expect the opposite).

The first Co. i was with HOLADAY CC'ing out of Milwaukee WI ...I  was the helper... we were pulling in $2500-$3000 on our route per week and they had 15 machines running daily making the same or more per week ... that's what made me save my duckies for my own equiptment...

My pay was 25% scheduled work .... 40% add-ons... plus mileage.... I was making about $400-$500 a week....back in 1984...

I started with commercial cleaning franchise. One of my customers needed there carpets cleaned. Did my first carpet cleaning with a rental. I enjoyed carpet cleaning the best of all extra work.
