I have to agree with nightrider in this particular instance. Ther ain't no way in hell I'm gonna move all that stuff. If the old lady wants me to move her recliner and clean under it....no problem but moving a whole room of furniture isn't gonna happen. I'll tell her straight out that I don't move furniture without additional charges and that it's much cheaper for her to do it or get her grandkids to do it. I'm not in the furniture moving business...I clean carpets. Each case should be taken one by one but for the most part moving furniture is not in my picture.

Good post Kelpro, I didn't steal from the old lady, she wasted my time, my gas, and my helpers time (which I pay ) I was in business not to work for free..........she had the option to say Yes the area will be clear in an hour or so..................THAT WAS NOT MY JOB TO CLEAR HER ROOM, UNLESS SHE PAID. The Sears guy, I can't judge, I don't have all the facts. As far as people not calling me to clean thier toilets, that was a good thing.............I don't clean toilets Nightrider |

Nightrider, you are my hero. Man, stealing from old people!! That is a
class act!! I can see why you sold the all of your commecial
janatorial accounts. Who would call back someone to clean even a toilet
with an attitude like yours. Telling that old lady to kiss your ass.
Class pure and simple. You and the Sears guy from the video would get
along fine. I bet his phone is ringing off the hook with people asking
him to come over and do some work.
As far as running a Mickey Mouse operation, I wish. You seen where he lives or how much he made last year???? I don't know where you get the idea of moving furniture as "redecorating homes" but then I guess when you live in a trailer, moving a couch and/or chair, is redecorating! Edited by kelpro |

Good for you Steaminpile.............don't get too soft on the elderly..........we all get old, that doesn't give us a free ticket in life, I once had an elderly customer with 5 sons in their 40's plus teenage grandchildren, I was supposed to remove the carpet in her 18x23 living room, when I got there it was full of furniture including an upright piano and 5 bookcases full of books and video's........I requested 50.00 upfront for a tool I had to rent, left, then called back and said by the way......when will the room be clear to remove the carpet...........she said that was my job, I told her I refuse the job and she lost the 50.00 toward the tool deposit........I got 50 bucks..........she kissed my ass HAVE NO PITY, TAKE NO CRAP, DON'T BOW DOWN Nightrider |

kiss my................ MOST customers are very good and move everything
I find it's mostly the rich and elderly that don't move much
just a couple of weeks ago I was at a fancy schmancy home and noticed they had moved a whole lotta f all,I was ready to leave I told the customer it was ridiculous and I was going to have to charge extra for the extra hour it was going to take
they didn't mind

Kelpro........thats very nice of you to keep the elderly in mind and move all her house around if she asks........but that is not the point........you are running a business and if 1 or 2 little old ladies a day stop you from making an extra $ 200. to $ 400. per day because of lost downtime.........then an extra charge is in order for the service..........you talk about her friends, her family and kids calling you to clean their house..........soon you'll have 100 customers to redecorate homes for.........My opinion is that you're all running a Mickey Mouse operation, and making NO MONEY at the end of it all........you're all so afraid to lose a customer or 2 so you kiss everybodies ass........let them kiss your ass and tell them the area must be clear in order to properly clean their carpet Nightrider Edited by nightrider |

I don't think I would call the roofer to clean up the yard and driveway because I would let the loser leave untill it was clean.
YOU tell at 75 year old lady with a bad foot to move HER furniture and see if she, or any of her children or or any of her children's children, or any of her friends children, or any of her friends children's children, or ANYBODY that she mets, knows or even dates, call you to clean their carpets again, EVER. I'm not a big, or strong man but to move a couch or chair at the request of a customer is NO SWEAT OFF MY BUTT. But then again, I prefer to build my business through referials and have happy customers that will jump at the chance to tell their friends that we moved and cleaned their carpets.... but that is just me. |
