Mr. Steamer: It is a dirty job but someone has to do it. If that iswhat your clients want then guess what?? That is what you have to give them. Am I wrong?

Seems your customers know what YOU want to hear steamer.
Don't bother trying to goad me into an arguement, your poll is WORTHLESS, common sense would tell you that, however common sense is not any to common anymore. :~)
Besides YOUR customer have no CLUE what OP is, My customers ALL know what HWE is... humm, so HOW accurate is YOUR poll? |

Mr. Steamer: I guess when the day comes when you can't beat them I guess then you have to join them. I don't think you have anything to worry about yet. Gas up the van, turn on some tunes and hit the road.

I would not have HWE in my home, and I have BOTH! My carpet is 12 years old and we BEAT the crap out of it, it still looks close to new.. the proof is still in the pudding.
Lee, you were HWE before OP, how much MORE do you charge for OP? If you WANT customers to use it you should charge 25-30% more for it.
If you don't understand that one Steamer I will explain it too you! |

I understand it... your tricking the customer in thinking that it's better.. more money always means better.... good I will raise my HWE prices 40-50% higher than your OP prices...lol |

Last time I cleaned my own carpet I used the opportunity to try a prochem
powerglide, a Drimaster and the wand, just to keep an open mind and try to learn. The only method I would not try on my carpet is anything that is high residue and soapy or anything that I have already determined is inferior because that would be a waste of my time. Otherwise trying anything else may possibly make me a better educated cleaner than my competion and for my own good. Would I try OP on my own carpet . Yes, because it would give me the opportunity to have a hands on experience of feeling the machine , see how easy it is for the operator and also see how long it stays clean , dry time etc. It would be nice to know that firsthand. Also I think it is important that you use , or have used, any method on your own carpet before you expect a customer to have it used on theirs. |

We have OP HWE and ROTARY
Our customers WANT OP (especially after seeing the results) They refer us by talking about our OP cleaning and ALL of our customers used to be HWE customers. We GAVE them the choice and even though the price tag was significantly higher on the op method THEY STILL CHOSE OP!!! and NO WE NEVER BAD TALK HWE WE SIMPLY RAVE ABOUT AND SHOW PICTURES OF JOBS WE HAVE DONE WITH OP and guess what??? OP WINS EVERY TIME!! Our referrals come from those who have seen the results themselves so we need not say a thing!! OH AND FOR THE RECORD.... WE DO JUST AS MUCH RESIDENTIAL (WITH THE CLIENT LOOKING OVER OUR SHOULDER) AS WE DO COMMERCIAL!!!!!!!! DIVA Edited by diva |

i think you should offer your clients a choice hwe, bonnet, op, what ever. if the only tool you have in your toolbox is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. |

Well Harry I guess the pad guys did a good job of of pushing their system. Now tell me they were completely truthful about hwe. It is not the system it is the operator. Do you think??? Well, actually Yes. It's often a case of a poor job done by a HWE guy that causes the customer to switch. I don't expect my "trained to have HWE cleaning to switch or to go back to Portys but I will now have a answer for new customer who are concerned about dry times or wicking. It's really not very complicated.
