I am trying to get a little info on ceiling cleaning.
We have been cleaning ceilings for 5 years using a 2 part mix. Part 1 is a enzyme & soap powder mix which we mix with reverse osmosis water & the second part a peroxide & water mix. We mix them togather & the second part is supposed to activate the enzymes. Now I have had 1 guy tell me HOW COULD THAT BE---THE PEROXIDE WOULD KILL THE ENZYMES. And another guy tell me that all he used to use was water & small amount of peroxide. Anyone have any idea what is going on with this stuff, or does anyone make it themselves & have a recipe for me?????? |

we just use the 35% H. peroxide & water. Most of the ceilings 2 part mix are only detergent & peroxide. The enzymes are a little sensitive And I would agree the peroxide will destroy the enzymes. But there are hundreds of different types of enzymes natural & synthesized out there. Dennis Steele |

20 or 40 volume peroxide is all I've ever used. Works fine. Take care, Lisa |

We have just gone no smoking in all public places here in
Saskatchewan creating a little extra ceiling & wall cleaning. Last
year ceilings made up for 30% of our business with large commercial
jobs being a big boost, this is probably in part due to allocating a
good proportion of our advertising budget to ceilings. How do the rest
of you do with this service.

I never do it anymore, when I used to do janitorial as well, I did it on an as needed basis. Not much call for it here. We have been non-smoking indoors in a business for years. Take care, Lisa |

Either the ceiling tiles or the acoustical "popcorn" ceilings. I never did it at any volume, just problem area treatments, and I just used a trigger sprayer and a step ladder. Take care, Lisa |

We have built ourselves a ceiling machine out of a
large tool box. We got it from homedepot. It has small back
wheels & a pull out handle. We wired an extension cord up to a 60
psi on demand pump. Set a 2 gallon container inside to feed it &
run a 25 foot hose out to a wand. We use the same style
wand you would have on a power washer.
We can do any style ceiling if it is porous there is no wipeing involved just spray & leave. We use this machine for walls as well. A quick spray, wipe & rinse with a wall mop, quick & easy. |

Puddle P. Your get up sounds like the same machine CeilTech use to sell. Or maybe they still do. They would sell a package to a customer. Machine, chemicals and literature for a lot of money. I can count on one hand the amount of customers of ours that do ceiling cleaning. I am not sure why but I am guessing they do not want the trouble and headaches that can arise if their customers are not happy with the results. Good Luck |

ADWAwe
have been cleaning ceilings for 5 years & it has been a great add
on to our business. It is not much different than carpet
cleaning, you have to know what kind of ceiling you are cleaning,
it is very important to know if it has been painted or not. Just
like carpet cleaning you must identify problem areas &
address them.
When we started doing ceiling cleaning we marketed it extensively & all our advertising now is 50/50 between carpet & ceilings. Last year our ceiling cleaning sales were more than carpets. Ceilings are a harder sell but we make upwards of $120 /hr. They take half the time to clean as carpets & make just as much money. Commercial jobs is where the real money is, just look for dirt & dust around the diffusers. We have done hotels , malls, restaurants, as well as residential. |

Good one liner Steamer Puddle Proof are you located in Canada. I know that if you paint your acoustic tiles it is against fire regulations. |
