What is the best way to fill your portable machine on a job? Do you connect a hose to the kitchen sink or use the tub? If anyone can help I'd like some input. Thanks

Connecting a hose to the tap of the kitchen sink can be an accident waiting to happen. Aside from the risk of something going wrong and you facing a claim for water damage, you also saddle yourself with the job of locating all the connectors for all the various taps, you also have the job of swapping them over. And how much time can you save on a job? Add up the time fiddling around, unwinding and winding up the hose and you might as well use a bucket. Edited by John Bolton - 20/September/2006 at 7:13pm |

I have found that it takes far longer to fill from a faucet oposed to a tub spout. Just my two cents...

Leave your machine at the front door. Hooking up a adapter to a hose to your solution tank will save you a ton of labor over hauling a 5-gal pail 3 times (15gal tank) back and forth.
After years of bucket brigading from the tub to a porty,,, the hose hookup was a godsend.
As it fills, watch it so it don't overflow, and if it did your on cement..

My concern is that you cannot watch both ends at the same time! If the machine is fitted with auto-fill that is a different matter. But my machines never enter the building unless it is a requirement of security so running an extra hose (perhaps 100'+) through the premises, with the attendant increase if trip hazard and the inconvenience of having to clean around it, coupled with the concerns I mentioned earlier, lead me to abandon auto-fill about thirty-five years back. |

I use the bathtub and a 5 gallon pail, if they only have a shower and no utility sink, then I use the kitchen sink. I always bring a smaller bucket and no problem little slower but hey you got the job. And it pays.
