It's difficult to answer without a clear idea of your budget.
Although most of us would consider a pickup out of the question, I've seen people do it. I sold my pickup in order to buy a van so I could start out on the right foot. Nevermind the impression you make pulling up to appointment in a pickup truck, think about the security issue. If you have a shell, then security is more or less take care of, but then you have to deal with the rapid wear and tear of the shell. I first started working for Chem-Dry back when they were using little pickups, and those shells got destroyed pretty quickly. |

You should be able to find yourself a decent van with CDS system (Wouldn't use anything else...) used for 10-12k.
Your are pry looking at 80-90k miles on the van and a silly amount of hours on the TM though. Will still work well for just starting up.. Edited by WCCCo. - 10/June/2006 at 12:53pm |

Stay away from a high mile CDS (runs off the van's motor.) You also have to factor in every mile on the unit equals about another 30 to 35 miles on the van. ie. add 3500 miles for every 1000 hours on the van. I prefer a slide in myself. If the van dies you can always move the unit.

CDS = Clutch Drive System, if I'm not mistaken.
