Looking at air movers, the snail design, finding them for about $130 - $$250 USD, any advice on which brands not to buy? is 2,500 CFM adequate? Most have three speeds, so what's enough but not too much to blow pictures off the wall and papers all over?

There are cheap blow jobs, Jackblack. You just will not have the same satisfaction using them. Take Dennis for instance..................

Don't like the Esteam machines, they don't tilt at an angle to dry upper parts of the wall.

for the very little water damage I do I use Hurricane's

 

for residential or poorly ventilated jobs I have a couple Nilfisk Advance airmovers that I like to use

nice and quiet and move alot of air
