Hello Carpet Cleaner's,

I was contacted by a frantic customer who had just spilled some (CLOROX) chlorine bleach on her new carpets. She wanted to know what can be done to  mitigate or stop (counteract) any negative effect.

I did'nt have an immediate answer with any real confidence would work. So I'm asking the question to the froum.

Please help and share your ideals?

 Advance thank you,Wink

Depending on the carpets fibre you could expect different reactions. Poly and Olfin she may get away with it as long as it was extracted immediatly, if Nylon once it hit the carpet the damage is done.

A dye service add-on.  I can smell $ over bleach.
Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

Bummer for them. I'm not a dye expert and was wondering once the bleach bleached out the dyes in the fibers would that damage the dye lots? Preventing a dye to stay in the fibers permanently! Confused

You must douse the spots with a reducing agent. The application of the reducer should exceed twice the diameter of the bleach spot. If you don't neutralize well enough you will get ringing that makes correction almost impossible.
Chemspec Browning Treatment works well.

I realize it's a little late now but vinegar works well to counteract bleach, it isn't ideal but probably the best product available in a home.   Either way you can neutralize it with a good bleach neutralizer from your local supplier and then spot dye it back to the original color.

A browning treatment would work well on this, but the quicker the dye is extracted the better...
