Hey Guys,
Had a question, wanted to run it by you. I am running a butler system with a 45 blower. You may not believe me, but I follow the carpet cleaning IICRC handbook for cleaning to the T, meaning I do plenty of dry passes, and put fans down when there is time. I ask they put the air or heat on as well.
Even so, my dry times seem longer then normal. My system is running perfect, plenty of suction, and my dump tank is always filled with about 75% of the water I spray down. My dry time is from 6-8 hours, is that what everyone else gets.
I know alot of people promise customers "no more then 4 hours miss" but I cant seem to get any better then 6.
Let me know
Jason

I would think your dry times are about average. We tell our customers 6 to 8 hours. A lot of our jobs are dry much faster, but there are too many factors that come into playthat stop us from promising faster dry times. You will have some tell you they have carpets dry before they leave the site etc etc etc. There are things you can do to speed up drying, different wand, glides, go to a larger vac hose, to name a few
Don't forget there is a difference between a "feel dry" and being "dry"

jaymark1,
The new Dri-Eaz Studebaker 360 claims to dry a room in twelve minutes. I don't believe it but I have customers who are estatic about the short drying time it offers. I have a couple of customers who use it as a fast-dry marketing tool that works well for them to get the customer to say come and clean my carpets. Remember: quick drying time is a major concern to most consumers. The whole world wants everything quick, easy and NOW. Even Starbucks are capitalizing on "Instant Coffee". Just a little marketing tip from Kleen Kuip. ![]() |

I get, with a 3500 cfm Downdraft fan, being pulled behind me, from room to room,
60% of the is bone dry when done , the rest is dry within an hour.

This discussion is going to look kind of funny this time next year. Then it will be wether the carpet was dry in 5 minutes or 10. lol. And that is all I am going to say. You will just have to wait and see what I mean.

Not sure about all the hype on dry times. I do OP cleaning and sure they feel dry to touch in an hour but i've found they are not totally dry for two or three. I guess it depends on what DRY means ??

Well Rick, most of the time I am talking my customer's definition of dry. Dry enough to walk on in sock feet without feeling the moisture through their feet.
But my comment up above was referring to METER DRY carpet after cleaning it. No beep beep from the carpet after cleaning 5 minutes later. I expect I will need a name change after that to SuperDry Ken. ![]() |

I do believe that if the hype is correct, using a solution with encap for HWE should enhance the drying time. Encap pulls chemicals and foreign objects away from the water thus shortening drying times. Or so I have heard. My only encounter with chemistry was in the 60s and involved pharmaceuticals.

And with our new ecological approach to cleaning with greatly reduced prespray (0) and our new dry water extraction, they stay that way. At least the carpets are vacuumed and raked. Our new cleaning method extracts at least 80% of all dirt. Those dark areas you see now will disappear after a day or two, week at most. 50% discount for cash ![]() I can deodorize the entire carpet for only $25. Quick, let me get the lysol out of your bathroom. ![]() |
