Velvet chairs

Personally I would use a dry cleaning method.

Ted carries the right chemicals.  Walmart carries niteriders line of chemicals.

Always work the velvet in the direction of the nap rather than against it. This includes vacuuming,brush agitation and extraction.

Initial Grooming – Immediately after cleaning each section, you should groom the velvet in the direction of the nap. In other words, brush it down. Do not try to brush against the nap while it is wet.

Dry the fabric completely.

Final Grooming – Once the fabric is dry, groom the pile against the nap using a Brass Velvet Brush. This will lift and separate the fibers and bring back the soft feel of the velvet.

I do prefer dry cleaning,This is some what easy for cleaning velvet carpet...

If you don't want to go to the dry cleaners, you can buy a product called Dryell... It works pretty well, and all you do is put the article in the Dryell bag and follow the directions....

Oh yeah.....I forgot, I also had over 30 panels of draps ( Blue velvet.....the real thing ) from the same reception hall that they wanted cleaned. They wern't stained or anything just dusty and smelled with cigarette smoke. Not wanting to invest in the dry cleaning, the owner just asked me to do my best for the smell and dust. I brought them to a laundry mat, shoved them into 15 dryers, sprayed Bano in the dryers, let them tumple for whatever 25 cents got me at the time. Took tem out folded them hot, put them in garbage bags brought them back hot as bread, hung them up.....sprayed more bano on them.....called the owners ( I knew the first thing they would do is smell them to cleanliness ) they smelled great.....they were happy.....I was happy.....I charged them a special price of  $ 500.00 for 3 hours work .
