This may seem odd... I put a hot pot on my carpet floor. When I finally took it off (a while later) there was a shiny spot underneath, it looks like it somewhat melted the carpet. Does this make sense? Is there anything I can do to rejuvenate that spot on the carpet? Maybe hot water? I can send a picture if anyone would like to see.

Thanks!
Jon

Take a hair brush an and scrub at it a bit. That will losen up the fibers if they aren't totally melted together. Other than that, like someone else mentioned, you can have it professionally patched if you have some carpet scraps around.

Otherwise, you better plan on moving some furnature over it. Shocked

If it has a dark burn you can use sandpaper to get the top burn color off..

I've done that many times when it shows a black surface burn.. Sand it down
until the black is gone.. You'll have a indentation but no black spot showing..

I must accept FriendlyHammer's first suggestion since it worked for me. Because, it hasnt melted a lot. Just started and I took the hot pot. Finally, it came to its original pattern. Thanks a lot.

Hey dude! Your carpet didn't melt it was just burned you can try to patch it up. But i suggest you just get a new one since the spot won't be removed, though it can be patched.
