Hey everybody. I am obviously new to this place and iin need of much guidance. I am trying to slowly get into the carpet cleaning business. I was thinking of maybe renting a cleaning unit(not a rug doctor) to do my jobs at first to get the feel of how long things take and to get the swing of things. Has anyone else ever done this or does this sound like a decent way to step into things without having to purchase a carpet cleaning unit right away? I would try at first to acquire some work through some small businesses so i could start with smaller jobs.

I've never rented any equipment before. I am also not a fan of portable units, but it is a way to get started. Check around with any of your local competition and see if anyone has any used stuff for sale. A buddy of mine just sold a decent portable to a guy for $20. He just wanted to help out. I always watch ebay for good deals on used stuff. Sometimes people don't know what they have when they go to sell it. I saw a nice set up for $850 in there the other day, included hoses and wand chems. you can find good stuff, if you check often.

I use to rent, then I would knock out 5 jobs in 1 day.

Sounds like a decent Idea...maybe it would help you decide on the type of equipment that works for you!(and your custys) |
