Bonnet/Spin Pad Cleaning Theory Advantages
Disadvantages
Many bonnet cleaning solutions that may clean effectively will leave soil attracting residues. Use a bonnet cleaner with a soil retardant to enhance bonnet cleaning effectiveness. Best results are achieved by using a dry bonnet, and regularly changing the bonnets when soiled. |

We could absolutely not explain the Bonnet Cleaning Process without giving PadMan equal time as he claims that his system is far superior. Here it is in PadMan's Own words...

I call the bonnet system. pretend carpet cleaning. It will only clean the serface. It uses a form of moisture, that will distiort carpet fiber permantely. Try this. Take two large binded area rugs, with a 1/2 in. pad under them. Place them in your garage. Clean one with a buffer, clean the other with a truck mount using a good cleaning agent that will not foam, or effect the vacume on your unit. Prespray only, and rinse with water. Soft water is a plus. after repeated cleanings do your inspection. See wich one has the most dirt in the backing, and resting on top of the pad. also check for fiber distortion. As a final note, do not rambo the carpet with the truck mount. turn your heat, and water pressure down. Let the chemistry do the work, not the brut force of the machine. ( You be the judge)

It's not as pretend as the CIMEX, in my opinion.

I did bonnet cleaning for quite sometime. I use to choke when I'd have to tell a customer how much better it was than steam cleaning. Still sold the method, still did a great job with it but bojedi is right.. it's "pretend" carpet cleaning (my exact words).

Atlantis, I hear you, but try O.P. (Oscillating Power) with a pure COTTON pad. There is an exceptional difference. Synthetic bonnets are out if you want it clean.
P.S.
Can you imagine wearing other than cotton underwear? Try wearing a pair of synthetic underwear and you'll have your answer. I am not knocking H.W.E. methods but O.P. and Cotton sure opened my eyes. Go to www.hrubyclean.com and see video.

Do you guys have any problems with residential customers when you clean their homes using an OP or Bonnet method? Are they skeptical when you bring an OP machine in their home and see that you're just spinning a pad on their carpet as opposed to using a truck mount?
I'm not saying one method works better than the other, I don't know. I'm just concerned that the customers might be quick to judge when using that method. |

Nothing breeds prejudice like ignorance. Educate your customer as to WHY your method is the preferred methods. In carpet cleaning there is no right or wrong way, just my way or your way.
Bonnet delivers what the customer is really looking for - a clean looking carpet with a minimal drying time. What may not be good enough for you is good enough for the buying public. Remember this is a business, not brain surgery. The customer who expects you to screw him or her is pleasantly surprised at the results. Bonnet cleaning does little to reactivate the smell of pet urine. The nose knows, if it smells clean it must be clean. Just my opinion. Freely given and worth every penny of what you paid for it. |

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

i HAVE USED THE BONNET METHOD FOR THE PAST FOURTEEN YEARS. IT DEPENDS ON THE CHEMICAL AND HOW YOU MIX IT. I WORKED FOR ELITE IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES WHEN THIS METHOD REALLY BECAME POPULAR. I CAN SEE WHY PEOPLE ARE SCEPTICAL BUT I'VE HAD NO TROUBLE BECAUSE I WORK FOR MYSELF AND KNOW WHAT STRENGTH TO MIX THE CHEMICAL TO GET A GOOD RESULT AND LEAVE VERY LITTLE RESIDUE. I DONT KNOW WITH THE BIG NAME FRANCHISES. I'VE SEEN A FEW DISASTERS BUT SEEN SOME GOOD ONES TO. I AM ABOUT TO PURCHASE A TRUCK MOUNT MYSELF TO GET INTO HARD FLOOR CLEANING AND CAN SEE THE BENEFITS OF BOTH METHODS. THE MORE YOU HAVE TO OFFER THE CUSTOMER THE LESS TIMES YOU WIL SAY "NO" I DON'T DO THAT AT THE MOMENT, BUT I CAN ARRANGE THAT FOR YOU!!

I offer HWE or Bonnet, some of my customer just have to have it one way or the other. The way I look at it is that it's just another tool in the tool belt. I can make my recommendation on what I think /know will work better but the person who has the money gets to decide what happens.
If I don't ask and talk to the customer enough before I start cleaning and use the wrong method I always fall back on the good old phrase, "ohh that was just the pre-treatment" and then I bring in the other system. http://www.bellinghamcarpetcare.com |
