Can an inverter be used on a vehicle that will power a portable? I know they make AC power inverters for cars/trucks.

You can buy an inverter that will power just about anything. Get out your check book.

We sell them at work.

Hammy;

I have heard that one must really consider the wiring in their own vechicle in regards to using these high-end converters. Is that true?

We sell them to the US military. They use them in the field to power just about anything. Very pricey $5000 and up. I have seen similiar ones off e-bay
