I agree. Not every method will be suitable for every carpet type. For example a carpet with silk fibers is rather delicate and using a too harsh cleaning method could ruin it.

Depends on your carpet type. There are different cleaning methods for different carpets. Be careful not to damage the fibres.

Hot water extraction is recommended by the major manufactures.It's what I do mostly using a truck mount. unless a customer wants a dryer method then I'll do an encapsulation cleaning. www.thecarpettech.net

When possible, extraction cleaning is far superior. However, there are times and circumstances where you can't use this method.

For example, when dry time is extremely critical, you may be forced to use low moisture options. Or when sheer work volume requires higher production methods, you may have to opt for encapsulation. There are also times when the materials you are working on dictate alternate methods ranging from solvent, impregnated products like Host or Capture, all the way up to oscillating bonnets.

In my opinion, the best tool is the one you understand the best, you understand its limitations the best, and you understand your limitations the best. Any good professional with an inferior tool can out clean a bumbling idiot with state of the art equipment.

When it  comes to extraction cleaning, the ultimate tool is a well-maintained truck mount cleaning system. However, these cannot reach the 80th floor of a skyscraper therefor, they are really only good for projects within a few hundred feet of the parking location of the vehicle. Otherwise, you will be required to use a portable cleaning system which has its own limitations.

I believe steam cleaning extraction is the best method for residential carpet cleaning.
Due to its documented ability to remove more dirt and contaminates than any other cleaning method.

My answer is this:

EXTRACTION PROCESS.

Why? Because it "extracts" the soil and rinses the carpet.

Having stated that however, there are times when a dual process may be necessary and/or where "mechanical Action" is required.

In regards to an "upgrade" extractor, well here in the States, that's all we have been making over the past 38 years.

best Always;
