Thanks for the information. Yes, I will have to check and make sure it is the 360i and not the regular one. Not sure what the difference is but I'm sure there is differences. I already have a grout brush/pole (triangular thing). I also have a 175lb. rotary machine with a holding tank on it for chemicals, you just pull the lever. I used it when I did some stone, tile and marble resto like polishing and honing Travertine along with general cleaning. I have also done a lot of natural stone sealing, grout sealing and grout joint staining along with repairs. I can fix just about any tile or stone problem if it doesn't need replaced. I was in that business for years. I also am an extremely good tile and stone mechanic when it comes to installing and have every tool for that, it's just that the labor rates have dropped so low compared to what I use to get and it is extremely labor intensive. Not easy being on your knees all day. I got out of the physical part years ago and was a managing partner at a big company in Naples Florida. That will make you pull your hair out with 35 to 40 guys working for you. I just wanted to give you a little background on me.

I have been dealing with the guys at Rotovac directly. It sounds like it may be a waste to purchase the grout/tile cleaning device but from videos I have watched it seemed like those were the ticket. However, maybe they were not using a Rotovac one, I don't know. I'm trying to get into the business with all tools for the trade, schooling and business expenses (start-up) for $6,000 or less which includes a website. I already have a van along with a car (car doesn't do much good). I am also an insurance agent but money does not come daily in that business and with new laws and regulations for that profession I'm looking for a back up plan. It seems carpet and floor cleaning might fit that bill. I know it is not the easiest or most glamorous thing to do but if it pays the bills and I would enjoy it then why not.

1) I'm in New Smyrna Beach Florida but would consider relocating down the road if I had to. Possibly back to the West Coast or to Melbourne Florida.
2) Where are you located?
3) Do you think I need to go with a heated extractor? The guy who sells the equipment says not necessary but I know what a difference hot water makes. He says the way it is heated by the water passing through the lines or around them, I'll be lucky to get an extra 60 degrees and it would cost an additional $400 fot that extractor.
4) Do you use the Rotovac? Do you have a phone number that I could call you and chat with you about this. As of right now all I have is some salesman and nothing against salesman, but I need to talk with someone who is out in the field doing this.

Thanks Ben My number is 386-479-0372 if you would like to give me a call.

Well the rotovac 360 is the older one the 360i is the newer version. You will need the grout brush and ring so it will not splash or you could just pick up a used 175 rotary machine with 1.5 hp and brushes or pads. Good chemical and dwell time is what you want for carpet or tile and grout. Get yourself a grout brush with pole for the lines/corners etc. If you don't use the mytee extractor then mop and bucket and wet/dry vac. It all depends what your going to do and how much you want to invest.
I hope this helps. Where are you located in Fl. I'm from Fl. also.

Hi

Hi everybody. I have been looking to get into the carpet and hard surface flooring cleaning business. So far I have been trying to figure out what equipment I need as a beginner as well as some training and certification schools I can attend. I am located in Florida. After doing a lot of research without getting too overloaded, I have come across certain equipment or rather a system which has peaked my interest. I came across the system while looking to have a rental cleaned up.

The system in question is the Rotovac 360. The extractor would be the Mytee 1005DX. My background is in the flooring industry, specifically installing tile and stone then eventually running a company for quite a while before closing it down. I also have taken classes on stone restoration some years back as well as concrete polishing. I never pursued what I had learned in a business venture but was able to save our companies butt a few times with the knowledge I acquired when certain situations came up.

I was wondering if anyone here uses that system and how they like it. What do I need to look for as far as machines and extractors? I'm not interested in a truck mounted unit as I plan on working the condo world and I just feel like it would be a big challenge as of right now but I am open for input on it which is why I am here. Thanks for any insight you can share.
