its the vinyl glue between the primary and secondary backings. It contracts when wet or in very humid climates. It will go back down after 48 hours or so. Usually only happens in large areas with newer carpets. If they were stretched really well to begin with it shouldn't do that.

Thanks Cleanex!! We were thinking the same thing. The carpet had quite a few bubbles in it before we started. You could see it moving around as I pushed the Rotovac.
It is looking alot better now that it had the air mover on it for awhile. There is no heat in the hallways so that prolly slowed the drying some too. I was just thinking that I might have wet it too much. Due to the dirt level, I did two wet passes (spray + vac) then one extraction pass (vac only).
Thanks for the input!!!

In reality it is an installation issue, if a direct glue down---improper application of glue--if tackless installation carpet not properly stretched when installed.

Hey folks,
We just finished a job in a hotel and had some issues.
When we finished the carpet it looked great, all the traffic lanes were gone etc. We went back to it an hour later and the whole thing was all lumpy and wavey. What happened??
We are using a TM set at 160* and 300psi running thru 250' of hose to a Roto-Vac. Carpet felt almost dry to the touch. The carpet is commercial and is tacked not glued.
We put an air mover on it and it started to look better after a couple of hours. We will see tonight if its shrunk back to size.
Any thoughts??? We have done many carpets and never have had this happen.
