Well....my first job (using my equipment) was a vacant apartment. My boss gave me the opportunity to use my equipment on this job. It was good for me too because I got too load up in my SUV until I get a van. I have 2004 Envoy XUV so I rolled the roof forward and loaded the M5 and equipment.
The machine worked great and now I have a real idea of how to do things. When teardown time came I realized I need to get some caps to cap off the water lines so none leaks out when I disconnect. Funny thing is I getting use to the noises a portable makes because for a min I thought something was wrong but it was simply the normal sounds that come from my M5.
That particular carpet needed my Rotovac Powerwand but I took my regular wand on the job. This was an old apartment so a breaker did pop one time but I believe it was because another worker was doing a patch repair and when he plugged the iron in that made it pop because after that no more breaker problems.
I believe I'm ready to go and I'm more confident in my equipment too!

My first job, that was shampooing a carpet in 1971. What I learned - the guy in charge knows what he is talking about, do what he says.

I'm perhaps a week from getting started and am looking for tips as I ease into being self employed.
I've praticed setup and breakdown of my equipment so as not to be fumbling around on my first job.
There's some apprehnsion though because my boss uses a truckmount mostly and I have read that people are less likely to allow you drag equipment into their home.
You who have been at it for a while...would you share your first job experience and some of what you learned along the way? Thanks!
