Offer Training... and your Telephone number(very important) You want the transfer to go seamless so they don't loose any customers... It's not what is on the books that counts buyers know that the income statements are padded... Take them out with you....SHOW THEM THE MONEY... commercial contracts are great!!!! but cash in hand is GREATER!!!!

Yep. Residential customers do not build much goodwill. That is because they are mobile. If you want to increase the value of your biz in a major way, get lots of commercial contracts instead and sign them up to 1 year contracts. That is business that is transferable to the new buyer and they will pay lots for that.

Has anyone had any luck selling their carpet/upholstery business? I have a large, profitable commercial base and nearly 5000 res. customers.I would like to relocate in Ottawa, and I'm hoping 12 years of business has some goodwill value. Lots of tirekickers, but nothing solid yet. Any tips?
