in 2005 I spent 47,000 that was for 300,000 homes monthy over 8 months Over that year I picked up around 3000 customers barely nothing 2006 I spent 25,000 2007 24,000 direct mailing isn't the cats meaow...especially not in the GTA. The phone might ring but the price is too high. I would go with a shopper choice coupon book and I would pick an area with around 150,000 holms..and build from there....  you don't want to spend much more than 1200 bucks on any one mailout IMO.  at an average call of 150 it wouldn't TAKE YOU LONG TO BREAK EVEN AND THEN START MAKING SOME MONEY! to clear 10,000 bucks is a lot of work to pay for advertising

Personally I dont like them, you tend to get the bargin shoppers looking for the lowest bid on the work.  I know some people that live off of them, but they also spend more than half of their income on marketing. I would rather work less and make more per job. Edited by FuzzSucker - 06/January/2009 at 11:53pm

Some company contacted me about a direct mail  brochure that will be delivered to every home in the Greater Toronto area once a month (about 1.5 million homes).
They said it would cost about $4000 for a full colour 1/8 panel ad on a 12 panel brochure(11x35 sheet when opened). If I do a 1/4 panel ad on the front or back page, I think the price is around $10 000. I would like to know if anyone thinks that this is worth it at $150 an average job. I mean, is it possible to get about 1 in 1000 response on a co op mailer? As anyone used valpak or actionpack or any one of the other co op direct mailers? What kind of response rates did they yield?
