First off it probably isn't a good idea to spill laundry detergent on the carpet. I think you might have to get new carpet. Let is be a lesson learned lol.

A carpet cleaning service ([San Antonio carpet cleaners- http://www.carpetcleaningcoop.com/providers-San%20Antonio-TX.html) is needed with professionals who can help you remove that detergent stain on your berber carpet. They should be careful not to ruin it.

Whatever professional you choose will determine what steps are needed for the spot following an inspection of the spot.  Nobody here could guarantee the accuracy of any answer provided as nobody here has inspected and determined the true source of the problem.  What we do is science.  Sorry, but there are no one size fits all answers here.

Do let us know how it goes.  We would love to hear how impressed you are with the skills of the professional who diagnosed and treated the problem.

Best of luck.

I assumed I would have to hire a professional to clean the stain. I was hoping for some direction about the proper way to clean this specific stain so that I can be educated about the cleaning method that the professional will suggest. What would be appropriate for such a large detergent stain?

You need to get a professional in immediately.  The professional has the equipment and skill to address the problem.  This is beyond anything a home owner can fix.

Wool berber is a great material and weave and I would recommend that you only allow an IICRC CERTIFIED firm into your home to maintain it.  If you can tell us what city you are in one I am sure we can find the right person in your area.  With such a fine carpet I know you can appreciate the need for top quality people helping and not hurting it further.

Avoid the large companies like Stanley Steemer which are not properly trained in dealing with your specific issue.  And do not allow anyone to touch the carpet that cannot produce proof of IICRC certification and proof of liability insurance.

I accidentally spilled laundry detergent on my wool berber carpet and can't figure put how to remove the stain.

The laundry detergent was clear (dye free) but I spilled quite a bit of it (this happened several months ago). I blotted up as much as I could with clean towels and tried to wet it a little bit to get the soap out.

My carpet is fairly light and the detergent stain is darker. It also feels like the stained carpet is really matted down.

Any ideas about how to get this stain out? Thank you!
