Thanks for the replies, gonna start talking to some of my current customers to see how popular the idea is with them. I'll be surfing these boards and asking questions as they arise. I have a very good reputation in my other work so I want you all to know that I'm not just a "quick buck artist" looking for beer money. To me, repeat work is the ultimate tell all for a business' legitimacy. I'll take the advice on the heat.

814jeffw,
After using portys for over 10yrs with no heat for 8yrs on the portys and TM's off and on for 10yrs with massive heat I would recommend heat.. If the porty don't have it.. Get it.
I just sold my portable heat exchanger to one of my nearby competitors that has a porty and he is sooooo happy he added heat..
Heat breaks surface tension just like a surfactant, except better. It keeps the water from forming the water spots.
Think of how you can use heat to cut your labor, time, chemicals, and agitation. If increased, any of these are potential dangers that can cost you safety and money on the job.
Heat cost you nothing. You actually save money by decreasing the other elements..

Jeff;
Here is a recent e-mail from Mr. Jim McDannel (727-542-3412) who also uses a RX20 that may help answer your question: Hello Cross-American, The RECOIL-3 XPS machine has power, I gotta say thats AWESOME, I was only running the 50ft using the Rx20 on a pretty rough carpet, Im guessing 1hr dry time, I went back and check the living room when I was done with the Bedrooms and it was almost dry to the touch then.. You're unit runs great did a condo today, and got amazing results, simply amazing drying times, You're portable will give my P/C Legend a run for its money.. I don't mind doing the condo work now, before I hated it using a slow unit, man you can really blow through them now.. Jim McDannel, FL. PS: If you need a reference for florida just let me know, I would be happy to show the machine for you.. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Man Ed, I used your machine again today, Every time I hook that thing up Im still impressed, I have two truck mounts, One with a 3.5 blower and a 4.5 blower, Your portable will give my legend a run for its money on dry times, the legend only cost me 12,000 in 97 if only I had your unit then.. If gas keeps going up, I guess I'll be buying options for the Recoil, ________________________________________________________ Hope this helps; Ed Valentine |

Thanks Jeff, not really looking to get rich in the Winter, but I have quite a few regular customers from my other business that would possibly make it worth buying the equipment and going from there. Possibly keep it going through the warm months as well. Is the Recoil-3 a heated machine? Does heat make the difference or is the proper use of cleaners with cold just as effective. I realize it may take longer with cold, but are the results the same in the end? Any portable recommendations?

Jeff-
You may want to rethink carpet cleaning as winter work, after December it slows down drastically. As for circut blowing. I use portys with Rotovac just make sure you do have a circut buddy to insure your on seperate circuts. Also when using the Rotovac you will be going through water fast enough that if you start with Hot water it will still be hot before you run out. Rotovac does a great job but uses much water. On older homes you will blow ciccuts so don't even plug in your heater. Most portys will run 10.5-15amp draws. |

Hi, I'm looking to add carpet cleaning to my current business, which is exterior house washing and roof cleaning. Looking for supplement Winter work and was looking at buying a Mytee 1003DX with a heater. Was also gonna purchase a Rotovac wand. Is this a decent startup set or is it gonna blow circuits because of the heat. Is there a portable that doesn't blow circuits as often as another. Also what does anyone think of the startup package that Rotovac offers? Was also looking at the Recoil-3. Could someone tell me the main advantages of the Recoil-3 over the Mytee 1003DX?
