Chemical Systems: Making them last longer

Using cleaning chemicals not specifically designed for Truckmounts may cause damage to the chemical pump.

Most of the major manufacturers of carpet cleaning chemicals include inhibitors in their products to prevent damage to brass, steel or aluminum parts. Some do not, however, so it pays to make sure you are using high-quality chemicals designed for truckmounts or portables.

Experience has shown us that when a machine operator says they "only" use certain chemicals in their machine, "only" can mean "most of the time" and they occasionally sneak in some semi-nuclear product to accomplish a specific task. Sometimes we need to be a detective to figure out exactly what is causing the problem.

Debris of any kind (hard particles) will either cause excessive wear on internal parts or will cause check valves to hang open.

Either way, chemical flow will be reduced, causing the machine not to function as intended. Proper mixing of powdered emulsifiers in the chemical jug will help reduce this problem, as will maintaining the filter screen in the jug. If a machine operates in an area where the water supply contains a lot of grit, an additional inlet water filter may be necessary.
