I have been carpet dying for over 10 years. Off white carpet is hard to dye back to the original color but it can be done. I use blue red and yellow for all of my dye jobs. It might be easier for you to patch the stain

i have a customer with wool rugs that have bled due to a water damage. i have not ever tried to remedy it, because i thought that it was a lost cause. is there anyway to remedy the color transfer?

You can buy a complete package from Americolor with video and evrything. I know CDR offers a course https://www.centerfordisasterrecovery.com/. I did the video and hours and hours of practice. Then I sent a couple days with a guy who does it in Ottawa and he really shed some light on how to do it. I lived in Halifax at the time and couldn't find any IICRC courses anywhere in Canada fot it. But that was 8-10 years ago. |

Well I learned in the automobile reconditioning industry prior to getting into carpet cleaning. If there were stains in the carpets (blues and reds) with the detail I would come along and dye them for about $50...
I know the IICRC has color repair classes as well.

I have not but thought of doing it. Where would one start if you wanted to learn things right? |

This post was 6 years ago, but I still remember the job. The carpet was new in a room never used. The carpet was as white as can be with out being bright white. She had a small spot the size of a toonie she tried oxy pro and it left a whiter spot that would not come out. If you can picture it it was color gain not loss.... weird case. Still nobody has said if they do spot dyeing or not. |

Is there a 'system' for colour matching or is it just having an eye for it and practice?
