With the SteamAction Truckmount I bought from Ted if I spray 100 gallons of water onto the carpet I recover everything except 1 Tablespoon

The higher the flow rate, the greater the 5 recovery is going to be. The reason for that is because it takes a minimum amount of water to wet the fibers and carpet backing. After that minimum is reached, most of the rest is available for extraction, provided your machines vacuum ability is up to the task. That said, our 500 psi Ninja with 2 3 stage vacuums and 2 2 stage vacs runs 91 to 93% extraction depending on carpet type.
