Nightrider the Vette is my wife's car. The Nova is a different story. It is a head turner a nice 66 a one year only car as they only made the L79 option available in 66. I think they made 10 of them in 67 as they were just too much power for a 2600 pound car. That is why so many of them are on the drag strip is because they are so light. It took me a while to track down some of the orignal parts. I purchased it from a man who was 8 years restoreing it. His wife threw out all the chrome. When tracking down parts in the US most people would not sell me the chrome parts till I sent them the vin#s to prove to them it was an original SS car. I enjoy the 100 miles or so I put on it each year. No shortage of people wanting it.

We cruise in a 1966 corvette and a 1966 ChevyII SS with the L79 Package. Have had them for 15 or 20 years now. couldn't afford them in todays dollars. Put about 100 miles on them a year.

I guess we try to hang on to our youth by the old cars we drive, I still have the first car I bought on February 24, 1972 it is a 1964 Thunderbird Convertable with a 390 4bbl carb with the roadster kit to hide the rag top.It has pick up but moves sluggish because of the weight and motor is a little tired, I have many old cars that I bought throughout the years, but it costs way too much to restore them.........I was thinking of selling them on e-bay. Cars are your thing, eh? Never had as fast a ride as your car Lisa, but I have had a few fast ones. First was a 66 Chevelle with a 327- 350 HP motor in it. Took it up to 140 MPH just outside of Toronto on the 401 highway when it was only a 2 lane blacktop back in 1973. Speed limit was only 70 back then and I passed cars like they were standing still. Scarey but exciting all at the same time. That was when I was 20. I had been faster than that before, but not as the driver. I was into building high performance chevy small blocks back then, so my next car was to be even faster . I built up a 350 with a 280 Competition cam to 425 HP and put it into my 72 Vega. I took that car down to the bare metel and started lightening it whereever I could. Put in a 2" tubed roll cage and removed anything I could that was not functional. After beefing up the springs and shocks and installing the motor, I had the weight down to 2400 lbs dry weight. The stocl 2.90 rear end was left in, cause I knew that with only 6 lbs per HP, it was going to be fast anyway. I was looking for good topend power. Took it out on the 401 highway again and got it up to 160 mph this go round. That was really scarey. It never was faster than the 13's most of the time cause of the tall gears, but I loved that car and still miss the excitement it would bring. Then again, gas was only .40/gallon back then too.

Oh WoW!!!! A car thread!!!!! Now you guys are talkin'! My last Baby was a 68 Chevelle with a ZZ502. Fairbanks manual valve body trans with a trans brake, 4,500 stall TC. I used to bracket race a bit on the race or watch nights at Palmdale, CA and do quite a bit of street racing...(shhhhh!). Damn I miss that car!!! But my dream car is a 68 Charger with a Hemi.....lol a 426 Hemi! The old 392's were not that hot. But any hemi is ultra-cool. We had a 69 El Camino with a hot little 350 in it that was a real screamer when you could get it to hook up. We had a custom roll cage welded for it. It was funny the comments I would get driving that lopey small block, with the roll cage and a baby seat strapped into the passenger seat. my kids grew up with hot cars.... My oldest (22) has a 67 Pontiac Catalina convertible with a mildly built 400. It was my gift to her for graduating HS with honors and going on to College. Too bad she let her jerky boyfriend drive it and he wrecked it. It still runs, and the body is being fixed, but it has never been right since then....:-( Let's talk more cars! Take care, Lisa

Nightrider: I am a strong GM fan myself. I caught your mistake but I thought I would let you off this time. As far as hemis go. I believe the first hemi was a 392? I think it came in the old Imperials? A hemi is easy to spot as they were the only mopar big block with the plugs n the valve covers. I could be wrong. I only owned one goat and the was 69 340 Swinger. I would have prefered a GTS but they were replaced in late 68 by the Swinger.

Front end does look nice........very clean and the chrome looks in new condition..........let's see the side and back, that engine looks like a 383 2 bbl or perhaps a 318.......By the way you don't really know your mopar 'cause I mentioned I burned a 440 Hemi easily..........Hemi never made a 440.........it was a 426 Nightrider |

It must be hard to drive from there??? It looks like you attend some cruises or car shows. Would that be a fair statement?
