irishmike, Have you managed to find a bargain on a cleaning machine as of yet? $80.00 Cdn. shipped with a Leprechan. But no guarantee if he gets lost along the way. |

John L, Waldo and whoever else is listening, You are making the same mistake that I made when I was younger. I need to prove to everybody that I had the biggest, baddest truckmount and I cleaned the absolutely worst trashed carpets that anybody could imagine. These people that allowed their carpets to get this bad generally have no money and want it cleaned dirt cheap and bounce cheques. I have been there done that and have the T-shirt to prove it. If I had to do it over again I would buy a PadMan machine and market to people who have clean carpets in big homes. They generally don't even ask how much and I would work from 10am to 3pm and leave the chinese restaurants for my competitors. You usually learn these kinds of things when it's too late. That's how smart I was. If your interest is to work hard on grease as thick as a brick then go for it. Get the T-shirt and keep dodging your bank manager. Work Smarter, Not Harder |

Yep, nice info. Anyone using a porty you can minimize your bucket dumps to just the wastwater by tapping in the faucet and run a water line to the solution tank. Don't do nothing else untill the tank is full. Best, JL |

Doug;
I would still recommend the purchase of at least a 10 gallon machine. I believe that the user will desire that extra bit of water supply in an effort to help cut down his "bucket bargade" labor. I also do understand your point of view; however, in this case, we can only make a suggestion based on the limited knowledge we have at our desposal. And, that is what I tried to do.
Good posts.

What's up with the 'bigger is better' stuff??
C'mon now guys... I've read too much 'service is everything' posts to believe what you're saying to this bloke now.... Get the best vacuum cleaner you can afford. One with a power head. Get a scrubber. Get an extractor with the most powerful vacs you can afford. Get second hand if you need... pressure doesn't matter as much as some claim, unless you're also cleaning tiles & grout & slate & stone & vinyl. Do a slow pre-vac. Scrub in your pre-spray. If you're using a portable (like I am) then don't try & leave it in your truck with two or three lengths of hose, bring it inside. Use only ONE lnngth of hose to maximise your vacuum. Do an extra 'extract' pass. That way you'll avoid the 'overwet' carpets that some steam cleaners can be (rightfully) accused of. Charge for your time, come on time, wear a uniform, smile.... Cheers, Allen |
