I am in the first stages of starting my own carpet cleaning biz. I am trying to decide between steam or dry cleaning. I am working with a limited amount of funds approx $2,000. I understand with this amount of start up cash I may need to purchase used equiptment. Please contact me with any suggestions that may help me to get started. I am also looking for suggestions of what chemicals work best and info on where to purchase my products. You may contact me at my email. If you want to provide a phone number so I can call and discuss this that would be great.

Thank you in anvance

Mike Camfield

Mike: Assuming that you already have a reliable van to transport equipment around, I really think your best option is to go dry, meaning use an OP cleaner. That stands for oscillating pad. It is less expensive to get into, and makes you more money per hour once you are into it than any portable HWE equipment will do. $2000 will get you started. I will be selling this kind of equipment myself soon, but not till April.

For that reason, I suggest you talk to John Geurkink of CCS about it. I consider him the master with this equipment, and know that he will take good care of your start-up needs. After getting started, you can buy the pads you need from whomever you like.Wink

His Phone # is 859- 873-0273

look at some of the used equipment on this very site

Ted has some smokin deals

to be brutally honest $2000 just isn't enough, even if you manage to get equipment for that much, there are plenty of other expenses to consider when starting up

license

chems

insurances

and a big one for a newbie-Advertising.

but don't let me discourage you,I started with very little financially and managed to get financing.(but it also why I can recommend NOT starting with a low operating capitol)

first step one should make IMO is writing up a business plan

consider giving Ed Valentine from Cross American or Ted from Kleen Kuip a call, couple of great guys for pointing you in the right direction
