Just be carefull about what rinse agents you use
some can be kind of harsh to some pumps Just rinse system with clear water at end of day and purge the pump. Pump seems to be the weak link in some portables. Bjørn |

Use a liquid rinse....not powder to keep from clogging things up. Use any prespray ya like. When I did rentals with a porty, I used Flex by Bridgepoint as a prespray, and Point Blue(ph9 or10 I think) as a rinse. Pretty high ph's on these....but sometimes you need that when cleaning with a porty. On residential stain resist, I liked Zone perfect as a prespray and End Zone as a rinse.

Mike: Try not to put any chemicals through your porty. Use a pressure sprayer or a hyra force etc. This will allow you dwell time you will not other wise get when or if you put your chems through the machine. Besides chems are hard on your pump etc. Run a mild rinse only, make sure you rinse out your fresh and waste tank @ the end of the day. I use Pro Chem Ultra Pac metered through a hydra force sprayer with a tm but still the same principle with a porty. My rinse does not go through the pump, but as long a you do a finial rinse you should be ok. Good luck. My advice doesn't mean much around here, so you way want to wait for one of the experts to advise you on this matter.

Mike; You can put a rinseing agent through your machine I use Pro chem all fiber rinse. As far as soiling conditions you have to consider what you are cleaning. The Untra Pac is good for either light of heavy soiling in residential enviorments where you have to keep an eye on your ph on most residential carpet with stain blockers. Always pre vaccum and than pre spray your solution and extract, then if necessary spotting may be necessary, but usually your pre spray will take care of most problems. I can't help you with a certain problem till one arrises. Just a generic explanation of a typical job.

Mike: In most cases it is personal preferences regarding brand names. I use what works best for me. Other cleaners may not like what I use but to each their own. What is available in your area may play a role in what you use for cleaners. Freight and other charges soon add up when you have to have things shipped in. I usually don't put a lot in what someone says about the success of some cleaning solutions. I buy or try to get some samples to try for myself to determine if it is right for my applications. Just don't buy large quantities till you are satisified that brand is right for you.

Thanks for the feedback Doug.... I know one of my local suppliers has Chemspec and Dynachem, and my sales guy is recommended Dynachem. Never know if it's because they have better margins, or it actually works better in their opinion

More and more carpet cleaners are switching to Enviro products. If they are not they should be. Simply to protect their customers, your employees not to mention yourself. Toxicity is out these days. The newer generation of products clean neutral of slightly on the acidic side. This is good as fabric and fibers like to be in a slight acid state especially wool. Thigh pH alkaline will burn or rot a carpet if left for a period of time. Think of it... If you use a slight acidic product for cleaning or pre-spraying you no longer require a textile rinse, a softener or in some cases a deodorizer. So, you recommend spraying on the cleaning agent (chemicals) with a sprayer... then just using the port. extractor and hot water to do the rinse basically?
