I personally never intend to beat anyones price, and especially don't
advertise that I will beat their price. That appeals to a customer that price shops . 90 % of my customers never ask price. Customers are not dumb, to tell them that you are giving them the extra 60 cents that it cost per postcard is not going to gain you any points. Once a clientele is established I am with Kennie on his earlier advise. work with the customer base you have on reminding them, and try to provide them with an extra money making service while you are there if they are interested. Not Bait and Switch but to let them know that you also clean upholstery or that you clean cement floors in the garage etc. etc. I USE THE SOFTWARE I DEVELOPED ( www.castlebrooksoftware.com) to send postcard reminders on a pre planned schedule. It is the best way to work with existing customers. They in turn will be your cheerleaders and I do not find a need at this stage in business to give away my profits to a price shopper. Each to his or her own! I also send out Thank you cards that I get from www.violand.com, made especially for carpet cleaners and add 10.00 off business cards for referral purposes. A referred customer doesn't always ask price as they want you , not the other guy. |

Good post danmarck! I agree that you establish the type of clientel you advertise too. Giving away products or service puts you with the majority. Seperate yourself from them and sell that! Be different, do not sell yourself short. Established customers do not ask the price!

This is all fine and good if you have a house list of 20 thousand customers. I barely have 2000 customers...need to keep building my list.
The larger your lists gets....the easier it will be to keep and maintain profits.
50 calls a week isn't an unreasonable goal for 2 trucks it should be a norm.
There is over 1 million households in my reachable service area...trying to reach and maintain 20 thousand isn't unreasonable either.

I agree with what you say Steamer if you want that type of customer. I recently had hardwood and marble installed in my house. Price was not an issue with me. The best installer was. I did not ask the price before the job started. Was just happy to have a professional do a great job!

I am glad I am not in the city. The consumer must think it is a silent auction. Just be patient next week someone will give us a lower bid for our cleaning. When cleaners compete the client always wins. They don't need to call for prices they come in the mail?
