I would definately seek a warm area for your equipment, any equipment that may have water trapped inside will freeze, contract and damage fittings, pumps and lines. could be costly...

It only takes one cold night. Is it worth it?

It is a big gamble, one freeze and it will cost you big time. Find a way to heat the inside of your van on those nights when the temp is below freezing.

How long do you think I could run the 12volt fan before my battery would die? I was thinking no more than 12 hours

Just ask yourself if you would sit in your truck all night, rather than your warm toasty bed, cuddled up between your wife and the family pet.............bring your Roto-Vac to bed with you you can have a menage a trois ( Threesome ) Nightrider

Radio shack sells a digital temperature sensor (less than $20.00) and you can have it set to sound an alarm if the van temp falls below whatever you set the alarm for. I have that and an oscilating electric heater in the van (less than $40.00 at walmart). It got to 19 degrees here last night and with the heater on low (1000 watts) it stayed 45 degrees in the van. Run an extension cord (minimum 12 gauge) along the frame and up through the floor into the van and have the other end come through the grill and plug it in at night.

jtuseo, A oil filled radiator heater is your best heat source...Get it at walmart... I have 2 in my van and never have set it on full blast.. Down to -28 the other night and set each heater at medium and it still was 60f in the van.... |

Nightrider I think your meds have worn off? It will be cheap to bury you when you are gone. Just give you a enma first and for all that will be left will fit into a match box?
