I did four calls today...and all I moved was 2 couches and 2 chairs...everything was already done for me...why ???because I let the customer know how I like it...... Sorry to say...you cleaners that are moving everything under the sun make it bad for everyone...I'm a cleaner not a mover..... What are you doing with heavy pieces like the buffet???blocks can't hold that up...you're going to wreck the wood and the carpet by putting it back on wet carpet...mold will grow underneath....you shouldn't be moving it in the first place.... once you pres pray to drag heavy things across the will warp and stretch the carpet...say if you break something. If you have to move things move them right out clear the room, and don't put them back...it is not our job... if you move more than 2 items per cleaning area you've moved too much.. |

Stanley: We have differnt prices for empty rooms, traffic areas and rooms with furniture. You do not move furniture from dry to wet. If on person cannot move it stays put. Large furniture wall units etc. stay put. I f there is suficent furniture that a second person is required I charge for the second person in my furniture moving price. Everyone will be different on this one. I for one do not like my tm running outside while I am doing nothing inside.(Furniture moving)

And how about the old folks?? How about the inconvenience of the kitchen and bathroom being full of crap?? How about the customers who will put the stuff back before its fully dry. Of all the stuff you've come up with, the is the one I disagree with the most. Not to be a mud slinger but I would call a cleaner who doesn't move the necessary furniture a slacker. I can't believe that Sears, Servicemaster and Interior Care are going along with this either. |

we move couches side tables ,coffee tables ,not heavy dressers or beds ,you have to move some furniture its not just about cleaning carpets its about providing a service that will make it benificial for our customers to call us in ,i feel moving a reasonable amount of furniture is not below the belt ,but i dont disagree with those that dont move a thing your customers will one day be mine

Just listening to all this moving around of furniture is giving me a sore back. I don't know what it's like in Toronto ( I guess I will soon I'm opening up shop there next spring) But here in Montreal we move nothing that is heavy or that can be broken. Bedroom is customers responsibility, otherwise we go around everything, living room we will move sofa and chairs and coffee tables and replace them immediately, bookcases, china cabinets, and all other heavy furniture we do not touch. I've had a case where the customer requested 3 men to help move heavy furniture at her expense @ $15.00/hr x3 men to re-arange her whole house after cleaning, she paid the pizza and drinks, we were there 7 hours, and when her husband came home ......he wanted most of it back in the original position or after discussing with his wife moved elsewhere....another 4 hours.......she gave us each $10.00 tip and the total bill was $ 495.00/moving furniture.........$325.00 / Cleaning......gave me a checque for $ 820.00 and guess what........IT BOUNCED. I NEVER MOVE FURNITURE. NIGHTRIDER Finally got my money 100.00/ month |

cleaning wall to wall carpet means just that clean it all,so what if it takes longer to do the job correctly since you charge enough to cover all the expenses, leave the half cleaning jobs to the splash and dash artists. do the best possiable work and the rewards in the end will be yours.you will have so many referrals that your sore back will come from carrying your money to the bank |

I hate that term splash and dash........cleaning does not include the moving of furniture...what do the two have in common....give me a clear room I'll clean it...give me a clear house I'll do that...don't give me a house with cluter and expect me to move your shzit...

Steamdragon be careful of your wording telling Stanley to get help padding. I already read where from time to time Stanley uses terry cloth toweling to absorb soil. Lets not get Pad Man too excited. He eventually will convert us all but lets make it more difficult for him. I know Ted still has a warehouse full of Ninja's to sell. |

Actually I've always used terry cloths on furniture.....it's kind of hard to do on the carpet...but for the most part it works.....still have to steam it though.... Ted can have an on line auction!!!!! |

everything is relative. if you do an empty 1 bedroom apartment for 69.00, why would you do a fully furnished suite for the same price. adjust your prices according to the complexity of the job. if it takes you 1/2 hour to move replace and pad the furniture, add 30-60 dollars(whatever you figure your time is worth to the job. if i hire a plumber to fix a leaky pipe, he charges me extra for cutting into the drywall and then he doesn't put it back. same thing

the thing about the word "impossible" is that it is mostly "possible"
