I hate sound lazy, but can't imagine moving furniture.  I would think this could lead to back and shoulder problems.  What is your approach with the customer?  Do your customers expect you to move their furniture?

so cleaners move everything.... trying to do a great job, but actually making more damage than good.

I've seen mold under furniture... bad rust stains... stretched out carpets, broken legs..

I tell the customers that these things can be moved...but not by me.... and if they move them it has to be before I get there...and they have to be moved out off the wet carpet until it dries...

most times I get the responce...just go around please...lol

I move the furniture. If it is a china closet or a dresser for example they have to remove everything from inside it.

keep it gully when you move furniture.

I agree with steamer. They have to move the heavy sh*t before I get there. Most of the time they say go around!

KELPRO and CMASTER are you saying that the RICH carpet cleaners like you; move all the furniture because there is nothing that you can't afford to replace?

I ask the customers to remove as much small furniture from the room being cleaned as possible. Any small pieces of furniture such as magazine racks, plants, end tables and any other small furniture. And to also Remove all breakable items such as pictures, vases, lamps and other miscellaneous items from furniture tops, which we will be moving.

There are some pieces of furniture we will not move and clean around. Examples include china cabinets, entertainment centers, desks, pianos, appliances and bookcases, grandfather clocks, aquariums and other furniture that is difficult to move. (Unless they are empty.)

If they wish to have the under there beds or furniture cleaned we ask them not to load them up with other furniture or items.

If dressers or chests are heavy we ask them to remove the drawers.

We move the sofa, love seat, large chairs, and dining room table and other mid-size furniture

We do not move furniture that may or will damage the pieces of furniture, the flooring, or the contents.

We use Lift Buddy, sliders, tabs and block to protect the furniture and flooring.

A few sets of sliders and the job goes fast.

I think this is one of the posts that everybody reads different. I bet most of you that say you don’t move furniture do move the sofa and such: and the rest of you that say you do move the furniture don’t move full bookcases and china cabinets.

Give the customers a Cleaning preparation list and everyone is happy
