I am just putting a Dry Carpet Cleaning company together in WA State, and I'm having a snag finding any agents that will send me even the most basic business insurance quotes. Any suggestions or referrals would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing that this is the definition of gully. I have no idea and actually on this board is the first time I ever heard it used in the context it's being used here.

Isn't a gully:

Guess I'm not up on the latest slang.

Last I checked State Farm, you need to be in business two years before they'll insure you. Once you've filed your business license, though, you should be getting plenty of junk mail offering you insurance.

e-mail John Rowland   at CRB Insurance   His e-mail is Johnr@crbins.com

He's in Wisconsin, don't know for sure if he'll be able to help you. I started up using low moisture foam from Von Schrader in late Nov and could not find any local agents who would touch carpet cleaning. They all said it was a specialty insurance, and wanted someone who had been in business for a few years to underwrite.

John got me two options. I think the company I went with is Allied something or other, but there was another also. Don't know if they would underwrite your particular method of dry carpet cleaning but it's worth a try. If you contact John, tell him I referred you (Bill Daviet, On Time Cleaning of Pa).

Funny thing about general business liability. It does NOT cover damage to your customers carpet or upholstery if you do the cleaning wrong. That's consisdered your risk. It does, however, cover things like a customer tripping over your power cord, backing your van up over their prized begonias, etc. However Allied offered a small amount of additional protection for only a few $$, which covers $6k per year of carpet or upholstery. You may never need it but it's just another marketing tool to tell your customers when you mention you are fully covered.

Good luck.
