My cleaner with 20 years experience wants me to look at a rotovac wand to put on our truckmount. Can I even do this? If I do, will it work well?

If this won't work, do you have any suggestions as to what kind of wand I can get him that'll be easier on his back?

Thanks !

Mike

If you can use one with a porty, it should work better with a tmBig%20smile

Labor and material costs go up with a rotovac.  Of course that tech won't have to work as hard while getting paid for more hours and using up your profit.

If he is willing to take a flat rate per job (based on the time to clean with the standard wand) minus the cost of chemicals and fuel he uses, and pays you $100/month toward the cost of equipment not needed and the wear and tear on it, sounds like it might work.

He wants it for him, no benefits to you.

I use the rotovac 360 and for residential work i wont even take a regular wand off the truck. Rotovac cleans way better.

I know this topics is a bit old, but been a while since I logged on and would like to share my experience.
I have a hydramaster 4.8 cds and pretty much only use my powerwand or primarily my 360 for res and commercial jobs.  Wands only come out when doing stairs or sometimes in commercials getting in and around builtins and booths.  The 360 is a killer tool, with the awesome blower power of my tm and some fans I am seeing dry times usually less than 2 hours..  Dry to the touch in less than one!!  The rx is a great machine too, but I would never think about taking it into a res just cause it has a tendency to take bites outta peoples trim, furniture and anything else it can come into contact with.  If your good with it I am sure its great, but my customers happiness is soooo important I dont wanna risk it.  I have also though about the glides for the 360 but since it has preformed so well for me I haven't invested.  The drimaster is a great upholstery tool but I just couldnt buy the same technology in a carpet cleaner as its whole thought is gentle surface cleaning, not deep fiber extraction.

long story in short, buy from rotovac...  they are kinda sales pitchy and weird about payment and receipts but they are there to help you all the way.  My powerwand blew a motor within the first 5 hours of use and they completely took blame and fixed everything no questions asked.  I think my salesman was Mike, nice guy!  They are designed to run off portables, so any truckmount with a higher blower should be better, but just keep the psi down or change the jets.

Regular Rotovac is not good on commercial glue down , and is slow,

The 360 although another tool to drag along is worth it's (light) weight
It kicks butt on most residential carpet .

How do you get the edges with a rotovac? How do you get in narrow areas with a rotovac?

There is never a job that the wand doesn't get used on . The motto on my truck says " We don't cut corners we clean em" so trimming out a room and around furniture in Bedrooms and tight areas is essential.

You really can't and you have to use a regular wand or crevice tool. The guy I bought my barely used rotovac from says he used it on stairs, but I'm a little vary of that and just use a regular stair tool.

Just be careful to keep the Rotovac away from baseboards and where carpet meets tile/linoleum and you should be fine. The Powerwand is great, but it can't be used everywhere.

I've just been told that manufacturers don't recommend rotovac because of the rotating action, this is the first I've heard of it....
anyone else know anything about it? i'm interested in rotovac myself but want
to know if it has any issues.
