I've been in business for under a year and I have already had some nightmares happen. I mean so far nothing I couldn't fix, but a nightmare at that.  Now this kind of got me to thinking if I have been in business less than a year and have already expericienced some nightmares than what's in store...Shocked   Who better to tell me the possibilties of whats left to face than other carpet cleaners themselves. I Figure if anything at least hearing others stories will get me and other CC's who "haven't seen nothing yet" atleast prepared... So what's your horror story??Whisper

Man, I've got sooooo many stories.  One time I had a new guy who was hired be part of a job that involved cleaning the upholstery of 3500 theater seats. A couple of the guys taught him what to do, and then they each went to their own areas and started to work. When I arrived the guy had been cleaning chairs for over 4 hours. I looked at his work and it look HORRIBLE. Turns out that he never knew that he was supposed to squeeze the trigger on the handtool. He thought he was just supposed to suck off the prespray and spotter. I guess he thought the trigger was a finger guard. Duh!

Oh yeah, then there was the time that a guy thought that a jug of floor wax was defoamer and put it directly into the solution tank to save time.

My most recent was actually this Tuesday, I cleaned hotel rooms for over 6 hours and came back the next day to continue the job and in everyroom I cleaned there was white powderery substance sitting on top of the carpet Ouch.  The manager could not rent out any of the rooms because they all looked like they had been snowed in Dead.

Start using DFC 105
One of 2 things could have caused your problem
1. Previous cleaning was a powder system Capture or Host

2. Cleaning staff uses Love My Carpet/ or something similar as a deodorant to make the rooms smell fresh and clean.
Both of these will create the same problem you are encountering.

FH.. Tell your helper not to put defoamer on the carpet.. Its very hard to rinse out..

My worst incident: Refilling the Recoil with a garden hose hooked up to the faucet.. and at the same time extracting.. All of a sudden the downstairs ppl peek in the door screeming water..water.. The tank overflowed..OMG..!!Shocked

That happened to me on my very first commercial job. It turned out that the former business at that location used carpet fresh on a regular basis for years with no professional cleaning (at least that's what I was told afterwards). I guess that was what came up. It wouldn't vacuum off & I had to rinse and let dry two extra times to get it acceptable. The good news is I've still got that account and never had that problem come up again.

I have a regular customer who has a skunk, a cat, two dogs and a six month old baby.  The skunk had just had a bath by the owner and bit me on the finger when the owner encouraged me to pet him.  He said the skunk was moody from the bath. DO I need rabies shots!  Its been six months and I havent died yet.

PS the skunk was roaming around the baby on the floor while I was carpet cleaning after the bite.  I had to carpet clean around the baby and skunk on the floor. ConfusedSome parents are insane! And they live in a 600K home.
