Since it's been quiet...I decided to mail out some flyers to new customers...
I do all the printing and folding stamping and licking...some times you miss a step...Like putting the stamp on...well.......
I didn't know if there is no stamp they keep it at the post office and send you one of those registered mail cards...
anyways the customer got one of those cards...he went to pick up his mail..it cost him 1.08...he opens it and finds out it's my flyer...
he's pissed...LOL
He sent me a nasty letter and the bill..
The letter said" Earl Please Don't waste my f**kING time with your bus. Do not send me any mail"..
what should I do????
send a gift certificate for the movies..?
send him a cheque for the 1.08????
Call him on the phone kiss his ass???
chuck the letter and move on????

It's a little scarey...I had a friend get kill by a bomb in the mail up in acton..
blew his head clean off....

You can do a cheaper and more effective job buy doing a Canada Post Unaddressed Admail. It costs about 12 each instead of the stamp and you can refine the areas down to postal code letter carrier walks. In other words if you know the areas you look up on the Canada Post Maps and from there you choose the walks. You can get about 12000 rack cards that look a little larger than post cards with full colour two sided printing for about $600. What I would do is pick about 4000 addresses and mail the same rack card out every 6 weeks and hit them three times instead of going to 12000 once. Doing that you will not have all the expense at once and you will have a better result. I sent out say $500 letters to repeat customer and I booked around 125 calls.....sent out the same 500 to an nice area new customers gave them 1 free room to try us...only got 1 call...hmmm ------------- www.mr-steamer.com |

So you get very little or no responce to mailouts to potential new customers. You just get repeats from previous customers who are just waiting for you to offer them a special. I found that to be the case years back with mailouts to existing customers. Now I just send them a reminder with no discount and get the same responce. I think specials should be for new customers only? ------------- Just My opinion |

Offer a referal reward if they book again AND give you a new customer who books at the same time ie a friend or neighbour.

I get referals even without a program...I had a $20 referal program...no one ever asks for the 20 bucks...they just give you the referal.
something work somethings don't... I was thinking of adding a Canada's Wonderland discount for the summer... or maybe a pet spa get away.... or 1 free golf lession... for the ladies a free scrapbooking class... I was going to call it family appreciation days ------------- www.mr-steamer.com |

If you want to create lots of business Steamer, use this special. It was my most successful way to generate business before I moved up to the high end market back in 2000.
Offer 1 room cleaned FREE with every 4 rooms cleaned at your regular price. You move the pricing up 25% on all your rooms to pay for it and so lose nothing on your bottom line per room.But the huge increase in the jobs you get offering this means you make alot more money. It also stops the customers that might call you to clean only 2 rooms, cause now they will order 4 rooms to get the free room as well. Here is an example how this works: Before: 5 rooms @$20/rm = $100.00.......not much volume After: 4 rooms @ $25/rm = $100.00 1 room FREE Total.............$100.00........Lots more jobs Your referrals go way up because everyone wants to tell their friends about the great deal they got from you. You advertise way less because of that, so your net income per $100 of business done increases.This method more than TRIPLED my business in one year(1999) from the year before. MrS. If you dont collect the sales tax on the spot.. You will have to pay out of your own pocket to the taxman I run specials all year long.. Why "Just for new cusomers"? Are new customers special..
My client base is more special than they are...
Give them all specials..
