Im looking into expanding my chimney sweep/dryer vent cleaning business and offering carpet cleaning also.  I cant afford a truck mount so it will have to be a portable.  I really like what i have seen with the steamin demon but is it worth the $$$ compared to other portables?  Also is it really all its cracked up to be, sure seems to clean good.  Also curious about vacuums, Would a pile lifter with a vac be best, like a host freestyle, im thinking along this line for pre vacuuming and being able to scub the prespray in.  Thanks for any hepl you can give.  Brian

The new Rotovac 360 with a 500 PSI Ninja would be the hot setup for residential cleaning. It will keep those gas bills under control, especially if you operate in a city with lots of high rises.

Do you actually use all that psi for carpet???

I have a 500 psi Ninja that use with an RX-20 (it appears the Rotovac 360 is very similar). I use maybe 125 psi for carpet and only crank up the psi when I do tile. Otherwise, I'd be overwetting the carpet and having to refill the machine too many times.

No, you do not need more than about 300 psi of it. The 500 psi pump just gives you reliable performance is all when you use only 60% of the pressure it is rated for. You order that one to get the 2 hi performance 3 stage vacuums as well so you have the 220" of waterlift. That combined with the cleaning power of the 360 rotary is what get the carpets CLEAN and DRY FAST!

Michael,

Both the Rotovac 360 or the RX-20 will operate well at 500 PSI if you wish. Your problem is the suction side. RX-20 were built for truckmount suction and not portables. The 360 is better for both. (Simply newer technology)

For prevac, most of us just use a regular vacuum cleaner. I personally use a Royal. All metal construction and very simple to break down. When I was with Chem-Dry, I used a Hoover Conquest--more expensive but not as good, in my opinion. The RX-20 offers plenty of agitation, and I'd guess the 360 does as well, but maybe some of the guys here experienced with the unit can speak to that.
