hello, i am new to the cc industry. i do have 15 years in the janitorial supply business and picked up alot in that time. the company i purchased my equipment from is comming to my house next week and do a three day training with me. i truley want to do a good job for my customers. my question is, should i take the 3 days of training and get the rest from work experience or can anyone recommend a good traing video series i can purchase to look at over and over. i am wanting all training, but am more concern over spot removal and identifying spots. figuring out what it is and on what fabric and then what to get it out with. would also like more training on T&g, upholstery, curtains and blinds.

Try going on a ride along with someone who has a good reputation if they will let you. That will give you some great hands on experienceThumbs%20Up

Any training is good if your new to the industry.
The ppl coming to do the training with you will no doubt lean toward the products they sell but in the end its the training side your more interested in.
All suppliers will tell you their cleaning product are the best (and in their minds they are) Dont be fooled by hype.
A supplier i was talking to over here (Powerclean) have cleaning products that are talked about on the aussie forum. They actually offer to send a sample for a customer to try. That shows they really do believe in their product.
So, take the training and shop around and ask lots of questions on supplies.

It gives you more confidence when they offer samples to try IMO. When i started out every supplier i met had the best detergents on the market. All i ended up with is a garage full of unused 5 gal containers of crap that was useless.
But back then we also didnt have these boards to discuss things in real time.

You have to take what you read on some of the boards with a few grains of salt. Some people have agendas. I have purchased a few crappy products after reading about how great they wereOuch

IICRC Training classes will provide a good foundation for you to build upon I think.  There you can learn about the principles of stain removal and how the different fibers used in carpet manufacturing do differ.  While I am not impressed by the certifications they bestow, getting that education may prove to be a great starting point for you.

Are you in a high paying business or are you just a self employed low paid grunt who thinks this business provides dignity?

You could probably find a good CarpetCleaningTrainingManual on the net that will have more info than IICRC classes and no yearly dues..
