Keith33 here, being in a most desparate situation,I have to try it.Is it wise to just walk into say a docters office and try to convince them to use your service? What about NO SOLICIATE signs?Would people go through the trouble to prosecute? What are the best times to to try this approach?Any advice or pitfalls to look out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and God bless.

Started out my business 26 years ago doing just that .... walking door to door ... businesses to business
Most of course are using someone at the time and so I introduced myself and said " I realize that you may be working with someone at this time on your carpet cleaning needs but if they can't make it or are not meeting your needs please give us a try ....I will personally oversee each job and I am fussy! I'd appreciate a chance to serve you. Many times the business card went right into file 13 but some called 2 weeks later some a year later. But the point is persistence eventually pays off some of these customer have been with me now for over 26 years and are throwing someone else's business card in the garbage because they are loyal to me because of the relationship I've built from Day ONE ............. The day I cold called and left my first business card!!!! Never give UP!!!!!! |

Then after you have been in business for a year or so keep in touch with your customer either with reminder postcards or newsletters. I use a program that I developed that you can try out. We have been beta testing it for a year now and it is performing fantastically. I literally was up over 40 % in 2007 . The biggest 1 year increase in my 26 years and I attribute a lot of it to jacking up my marketing to my existing customers. ( Post Card Reminders) and sending Thank You cards on almost every job.
We offer all carpet cleaners a 90 day FREE TRIAL at www.castlebrooksoftware.com But seriously Keith if you are just getting started out you need to do the leg work first to get some word of mouth going. and don't be to proud to let people know that you are looking for more work . SAY " if you were satisfied " please" tell a friend. and then I say...... " and I'm going to give you a couple of my business cards with your name on the back of them... when you give these to your friends and they have work done , I will see your name on the back and I will send you a $ 10.00 gift certificate. I really appreciate your referrals , thanks " . Edited by danmarck82 - 28/January/2008 at 10:39pm |

Getting business goes hand in hand with believing in yourself. When you start believing more in yourself
it starts showing in your approach and your confidence level. With a new confidence you will land more of the one on one customer calls...... that is the beginning of the relationship building....and the beginning of your future !!! Keep plugging .....educate yourself...read... ask questions ...read some more ...and then get busy....REPEAT! |
