Quick question for you Steamer...

Do you pre-vacuum your carpets?

I already know the answer- you don't as we've had this argument before. Padman does, that I know for a fact so he is removing a lot of the dry soil, which when wet becomes exceedingly difficult to remove, so where is the proof that HWE the way you do it is any better than what Padman does??

Learn to use the system properly and learn about how the system actually works after the clean before passing comment. Yes it does (the emulsified dirt) stay in the carpet, but vacuuming after cleaning by the client will remove the dirt, that is the design principle of the system. If you HWE clean whilst it is still wet after OP it will appear brighter of course it will lighten off - because the carpet is wet and most textiles will darken in the presence of moisture.

As for brightness after drying out it is a well-known fact that shampooing (which is simply what encapsulation or OP cleaning is an improvement upon) will consistently appear brighter than HWE - proven by the CSIRO here in Australia (an independent Government scientific body) when all cleaning systems were tested on behalf of the Australian Wool Textile Authority several years back.

Where is your evidence other than anecdotal or opinion? And have you ever cleaned a carpet after it has been OP'd previously? It will be the easiest to clean carpet you'll have ever done, guaranteed, but you probably wouldn't know or acknowledge that through either ignorance or plain obstinacy!

You sell an evenly cleaned carpet...which still has a lot of dirt with in it.... I'm not asking you to compare it to any other method.

Ok Steamer, I will play your game even if your childish temper is SHOWING a bit.

If I respray the next day will I get more dirt? YES
EVERYONE no matter what the method WILL GET MORE DIRT..

So pray tell, what does THAT prove?

BTW sucking with a 56 blower and NOT having a beater bar is NOT efficient or effective.

but you wouldn't agree that the problems with wickbacks are always there... you might think you have eliminated it with your OP but with the right amount of moisture it will re-appear...

This I can prove to you...because I've done it.

it's impossible to totally eliminate these types of stains...

and that stain that you fixed the last time with your op will be brought right back out the next time it's steamed...if you would be stupid enough to steam it again...but sometimes it's in the contract that way...

3 vlm cleans and 1 deep steam clean...

I've seen some real high traffic places like our local library...nothing works on that...ask LEE

Mr Steamingkettle

"I've seen some real high traffic places like our local library...nothing works on that...ask LEE"

Instead of asking LEE try HWE and follow up with OP and give it an actual red-hot go without letting opinion or you ego get in the way. I have rescued "unrestorable" carpet in that manner many a time, getting better results than I ever could with the most aggressive HWE procedures on their own. In fact one contract I have in a commercial situation (car rental premises), the building owner was ready to tear up and replace the carpet due to the state it was in. I have now been doing for the last 6 years after rescuing his carpet in that manner with the cleaning period going from monthly with his previous (HWE) contractor, extending to 6 monthly for the first two years and now 12 monthly - and the last 3 cleans have been exclusively OP! And after the third year he commented to me on how extraordinary he found it that the carpets were looking better than at any time since he'd taken over the premises!!

So, in this scenario it was HWE before, monthly, looking like $hit, to now OP exclusively and the odd spot here and there but not trashed out after 12 months. How do you explain that then?

PS please come back with another witty play on my name for me, I'm actually quite enjoying them and looking forward to them; at least it shows your creative side LOL

PPS a 56 blower to prevac? How unimpressive - why is it that I don't use mine to prevac but choose an actual upright vacuum cleaner that will do a better job of vacuuming dry dirt than suction only can ever do, no matter how powerful it is? And yeah I used to do it that way myself, including using a powerhead and a self-designed dust-downer and filter to save my precious T/M blower, but found that my commercial upright vac was pulling out more than double what my T/M could - verified by the Dept of Environmental Science @ Murdoch University so not just my opinion...

Once again, show us some evidence, not just hearsay or personal anecdotes....

FRESHPILE....

zzzzzZZZZZZ  zzzzzzZZZZZZZ

do you know what...  that was done at the library.... NO RESULTS so you would have failed...  It wasn't my job, but I was there to watch the process of padding....hew..and op...

I'm not going to waste my time one you... I guess you've learned alot on those 5 carpets you cleaned last year...

your more of a forum learner....  have you actually ever touch a piece of equipment???

I think you must have sun stroke Freshiefromdownunder...LOL

"So, in this scenario it was HWE before, monthly, looking like $hit, to now OP exclusively and the odd spot here and there but not trashed out after 12 months. How do you explain that then?
I have... but for you Freshhack no problem....

Not enough dry particles where pre-vac'd out of the carpet... juice ... coffeee and other liquids that have spilled on the carpet and eventually made there way down into the backing and sit nicely between the backing and the concrete.

so as the hwe guy cleans, and he makes mud because of all the dry particles. The mud wicks up

lots of the spill stains seem to be removed at the time of cleaning... but no method can really pull out a liquid stain that has permeated the backing.. so because HWE leaves the carpet damp it tends to allow these stains to wick up..

therefore it looks sh*t everymonth....

You with your little sh*t upright vac that truly doesn't have the suction to pull enough of the dry particles up, any really only picks up the big pieces... does a pre-vac..

Then you pre-spray with your magic chemical of choice...

you go over the carpet making it look cleaner....never really dealing with the spill the are way down deep... just over top of them with very light moisture...

the spills disappear...and have no chance of coming back because with your method it is dry to the touch in minutes and will dry totally in an hour or so...

FreshTECh is happy with his job  hiding spills...evenly spreading drity...carpet looks great and customer is happy...

instead of trying to keep the 4 times a year like the HWE guys he so happy that he only does it twice a year..the customer is happy because they are saving money...

Freshair I'm sorry about the name calling...but I hate to hear bullsh*t and everyone dancing around the issues.

I have a power head that I plug in and use to vac commercial jobs only...

I thing I have said I don't vac residential jobs... I leave it to the customer to do a pre-vac before I get there...  which all my customers do and move breakables and get the place ready for cleaning...  I can do it but I charge...LOL

I clean more than enough carpet to know how to get carpet clean... I'm a own operator and I don't get it right I have to go back look like a fool and take the loss to my pocket.

I do well over 1000 carpets personally per year with less than 0.05% reservice rate....so excuse me if I seem like an a**hole.  I've done work for numerous companies in the GTA and none of them can say anything bad about my work... their customers call in with praise.

I am not one of you weekend warriors

I am not looking to make extra money on the side of my regular job

I am not a splash and dasher who only clean 5 carpets a year

I AM A f**kING CARPET CLEANER THAT LIVES BREATHES EATS AND sh*tS CLEANING

so there!
