The exchange rate is on par or close to it. So are you going to stand for rip-off pricing from your local disty?

Do you ask them why they charge and extra 25% to 50% over the American retail price?

Ask your supplier if he intends on matching the prices on the other side of the border.

Even with the exchange calculated many Canadian suppliers have been taking advantage of us for years. If you look at the selling price in the US the Canadian prices are often $40% higher. It seems that some of the suppliers think we can’t understand basic freight and brokerage costs and exchange like it is to complicated for us dumb cleaners to figure out.

Most of my stuff comes from down south now and it will until these local suppliers figure out they need me one hell of a lot more than I need them.

it just off sets the shipping cost....shipping cost have gone way up since the price of gas has been near 1 buck.

Yes our buying power is better but the cost to get it here has gone way up.

Most trucking companies call it a gas cer-tax(spelling?)

in the end we save nothing

Freight on chemicals is a killer. A lot of suppliers will ship free if you buy $300 or more

Just keep buying your stuff from the US and tell everybody you know to do the same thing. Then the guy who was a distributor in your city will go on welfare and you'll be plenty happy.

The only reason you don't trut the guy is because you yourself are probably not trustworthy.

ps. I also think it depends on where you live and where the products come from..DUH ---- freight is a bitch ----

A case of chems is around 40LBS right? check the freight on that from Halifax to Vancouver!

People who sell on the Internet are generally cheaper. That's because they're selling to people who can easily do research with little investment of time. Most of those companies are South of the border.

$1.00/liter works out to about $3.78 for a US gallon

I prefer to build relationships with distributors, mechanics, repair people etc (not just for carpet cleaning)...that way when I really need them they know who I am and are there for me.

I don't get gouged on any of my chems or parts anyway. Sure I could find it $5.00 cheaper but also $5 more too.

My own customers could say the same thing. They don't use me on price alone!

How many of you guys pay your supplier on time, or do you hang him out til the next time you need products.  Let me guess!!!!!!!  Being a distributor is not all that profitable, the most money to be made in this business is you the cleaners.

Pilediver,

Yes, Steamer is correct as the additional freight cost have gone through the roof. I am pondering on what KK will do with chem pricing. But the GOOD NEWS is KK will be offering a discounted U.S. adjustment on any Ninja carpet cleaning machine until further notice and TM sales will be adjusted next.

P.S.
Yes, we all know it is also costlier to do business in Canada compared to the U.S.A.
