If your really serious about starting a business in carpet cleaning, I would highly recommend Jon-Don's "strategies for success". I am a previous class member and being in this industry for 16 years, it was the best one week investment I ever made into my career!

That being said, if money isn't an issue, why not a truck mount.  You can't even get close to comparison of the power in a truckmount. If anyone thinks differently, I challenge you to show me wrong.  I've been looking for a portable for awhile now and the Cleancraft Eclipse seems to be the most powerful on the market yet still not close to a truckmount.  A truck mount will certainly make your life easier.

Gone and nearly forgotten.  I suspect he'll be back under a new handle, that is if he isn't already.  Maybe you can finish that neighborhood yet. Hits%20the%20fan

No kidding. I normally do all I can to help out start ups, but when you've done a whole 89 jobs and know everythingWink , why bother? Gee, he must be brilliant, because I'm still learning after 30 years. Good luck to him anyway.

I see that, in addition to Carpet Cleaner Extraordinaire, you’re also an amateur psychologist.  Sorry to disappoint you, but verbal posturing doesn’t impress me and a little good-natured ribbing quit bothering me after I grew up.  If anybody “spits in my eye” we’re going to fight until one of us gets an ass-kicking, but that’s not what goes on here.  This board is loaded with valuable information, but if you can’t stand verbal give and take without getting offended, you found the wrong forum.

Actually, I was referring to my inclination toward listening to and considering the advice of those more experienced with the tasks I undertake.  I do this because:

  1. I have found it to be a successful approach to growing a business
  2. I am intelligent and ambitious
  3. I have plenty of self-confidence, but I am not so arrogant as to think I already know it all, or even more than people with 20+ years in this business

I respect your military service and absolutely don’t mean any offense toward it, but it doesn’t mean you know jack about the carpet cleaning business.  You’re a CC rookie and your posts come across as know-it-all.  You’re getting the same reaction you’d give to a wet behind the ears recruit trying to tell you that his knowledge of naval management and logistics is superior to yours.

Not a chance.   If their skin is thick enough they will take it in return.

These are average times. Vacuuming is usually 10 minutes. The purpose of vacuuming is to remove light debris. It's a quick once over. How long does it take you?

Spots come out easy when you can recognize what they are. Most are readily identifiable. Questionable ones is a quick spray/scrub & sniff. I hand-caddy 7 different spotters. Universal spotter works on about 90% of them. Heavy oils and red stains are typically the other 10%.

Pre-spray the whole carpet. Look, if your going slow over "good carpet" speed up. Take your time on high traffic areas. I also use a concentrated oxy-carpet cleaner solution as a tank additive (full strength is 2 oz per gallon). And deep extraction does the rest.
