These last few weeks have been dead.....so it gave me some time to work on my pro chem legend.....

Had a little oil leak in the front behind the shield of the engine, the fly wheel end oil seal was gone....

called the local Kohler dealer to see how much it would cost to replace and reseal the whole engine....

101 dollar per hour 3 hour min.. plus the seal $20 and new gasket material 5 bucks

I decided hell no and bought the seal myself... never opening an engine before I ran into some problems..... I broke the governor gear assembly but I didn't realize it until after I put back the engine together...

I seized the darn thing...

now what should I do??? new Kohler engine cost $2600 plus tax  a new pro chem legend cost $17,500

WOW! after hearing these crazy prices I decided to buy a new engine and fix the old truck mount....

but not before opening the old engine again.... and replacing the govenor gear assembly for $30 bucks

machine is working excellent again.... I don't think I'll ever buy a new slide-in you can always fix the old one if your handy enough

17 thou plus ..to make a few hundred bucks a day... it's almost not worth it....

I don't know how guys make it with payments of 900+++++++

a 50 thous dollar truckmount and you get no more money or respect than if you had a pad machine or a portable.....

why does anyone buy brand new???

to get away from headaches.... trust me everything goes down hill after 4 years

I thought you were building your own TM this winter??

17,even 50 grand is a small price to pay for what is basically a business IMO

how much do you earn off of that 17k????

but honestly I'm a tight wad too,,,,,I'll get as many hours as I can get out of my Legend

still think it's a great machine BTW

Steamin I don't feel I'm cleaning if I'm not using that legend.

It's a special machine to me.....

if you shell out 50 grand for a brand new truck and unit, you won't make it back the first year...... by the second year repair bills start to hit...(small repairs) but those add up

by the time you own the darn thing it's junk....lol

brand new machine gets you no more dollars out the door than an old machine will....

I was reading on ICS where this guy bought an pro chem apex and its been shutting down every 15 mins...

the reason I stick with this old machine is because I know what I got...I don't have to learn the damn thing all over again.
