I've had two people this week cancel their jobs at the last minute.  Still new to this.  Is this normal?  If so, how do you all try to minimize it.  It's frustrating since I still work a full time job while im building this business and have to set my work scedule around these jobs.  Also, finished my first month.  Did just over $3300 on five jobs, one was a commercial one, then 4 houses.  I want to keep putting money into the business but have suffered at my other job, its straight commision.  Any one else start out the same way, and how did you make it work????  Any comments will help.

people cancel and rebook appointments all the time, it happens. when it happens at the door 9am saturday morning, the customer comes to the door rubbing their eyes half naked it pisses me off. unless it's a cut blond chick.
nothing is impossable. it just hasn't been done yet.

I do! but then again, I'm outside the GTA so you might not be interested

As for minimizing cancellations, ask for a credit card over the phone when you book the job.  People are less likely to cancell if they have $'s on the line.  We go one step further and tell customers at the time of booking that there is a $40 charge for cancelling or rescheduling with less than 48 hours notice. This works also but you definately need to remember to tell them at point of sale.  You will always get some cancells / reschedules but I have found this policy very helpful.
