hey CCandmore- I don't HWE , just use OP .I don't think you need any extra cleaner after HWE, Just pad dry it up and you get two processes for one. Works great for me. 007

I do primarily OP but I do use a rotovac or shampoo even where needed. I have a 15" HILD that dates back to the early 70s 175rpm unit that whips my bonnets both with and without stripes. If the weather if hot, I use a mop bucket and wring out the pads to a damp state to apply the chems since prespray can be dry by the time the pad hits it in hot weather.
I get my chems from Vacaway. Primarily I do encap but I use a jet steam off a spray bottle to apply his non-encap cleaner as a concentrated spotter. Everything I do is green. I love it, am proud of what the method can do especially with the carpet being dry before I leave but I won't give up HWE entirely. I still have some insecurities. I need my blankee. I do use the bonnet after the rotovac tho. By applying encap after I can really speed up the HWE drying time and get the last of the dirt in the process. If I shampoo, I follow with the rotovac and then bonnet. I vacuum like my life depended upon it before I break out the rest of the equipment. As far as labor saving, nothing beats a VLM method in my book. Edited by Soil Lint Green - 15/October/2009 at 9:30pm |

I also wanted to say that I charge as much for VLM as the rotovac. Reason is carpet that dry is upon completion comes at a price. Even though it takes less time and chemicals? Yes, because the end result of actually being able to have full use of the carpet so quickly has value. VLM is truly the cadillac of service levels. It's civilized.
And I am not interested in doing some grease hole chinese restaurant. Why work that hard when you can do two jobs in the same time and have a larger profit margin? Save it for the grease monkeys Think of the low cost of starting out VLM. Even with the claims of what it can do to different carpets or for that matter what a rotovac could do to berber, if I worried about what COULD happen in life I wouldn't get out of bed. I have no complaints with my rotary buffing machine. I do high quality work even pet stains and my customers are excited. I really believe it is the user. If you know what you are doing you can achieve great results. I've read alot about op machines and rotovac. I was going to make the investment for one or the other however, I like my method and so do my customers. So anyone talking about one method over the other I say it depends on the cleaner and methods used, the amount of soil and chemicals.

I find it very interesting when I present OPing to other CCers who spent $50,000 - $100000 on a fancy truck mount. Just from a cost of operation how many carpets/rugs do you have to clean to recoup the investment. As PadMan has pointed out OPing has numerous pluses.

Superglides is what OP is. It is super how OP and bonnet machines glide over carpet and erase the dirt. |
